I just love the pant-wetting Hollywood heroes. While Jimmy Stewart and various others were doing their bit in the second world war (and Stewart didn't make a great thing of his service either), John Wayne remained safe in sunny California---although judging by the war films for the next 20 years you'd almost believe he won the whole thing single-handed.

Stallone cancelled promoting one of his Rambo films at Cannes because the Yanks had just bombed Tripoli (using UK airbases), while immediately post September 11 Bruce Willis cancelled a lecture he was to make in London--- but sent a video presentation instead.

Fear is fine and healthy, but not terribly good for the image when you're a supposedly indestructible action hero.

I don't think it was a lecture, more like an introductory talk at a film screening.

Though he is also visiting Professor at Oxford, where he lectures on Moral Philosophy. (Remember that speech about Kant he gives in the second Die Hard film? He wrote that himself).
