Just a thought:

It's funny how when we talk of the public taking the law into their own hands we are immediately drawn to the more extreme solutions. You hear little or nothing of the ability to simply arrest and/or detain someone, do you? Very much doubt that counts as 'dishing out justice' though, eh.

The Nanny State should do the sensible thing

Stop trying to Police the drug problem and become the supplier

Seems like the logical progression given the war on drugs has been an expensive unmitigated disaster

Amazing to think that forumites should ignore the fact that some turd has broken into their house and scared the family shitless, possibly given their kids reason to have nightmares etc.
It's shocking to imagine that anybody would want to beat the shit out of a turd who breaks in.

As for shooting in the back, said it before and say it again, I wouldn't give a fuck if they were running away; the fact that they dared to break in would give me all the motive I needed for emptying the entire fucking cartridge into their thieving little spinal column.

Why can't you understand that people are going to lose their shit and explode if they catch someone.
Would you rather make them some tea and wait for the cops?
What planet do you live on man?

Martin was jailed, and rightly so for shooting someone in the back. But there has to be some measure of protection for the householder protecting his/her property. The way things were, you could almost have been sued for causing an industrial injury if the poor burglar fell over a mop.

As for drugs---I've said it before. Let some rather pure heroin, well laced with lethal doses of rat poison, into circulation, giving it away for free, and let nature take its course. But that's my inner Nazi talking.

And while I'm on a roll, summary public executions for hunt supporters, gun-owners, smokers, and anyone who watches ITV on a Saturday night. And folk who were more than a kilo of jewellery. And anyone, without a medical certificate, seen wearing shades indoors at night. Sensible policies for a safer Britain.

That scenario is already being played out every day
Junkie gets a hit of pure heroin...overdoses...paramedics arrive...resusitate
The anecdotal evidence is that it has been the same junkie 3/4 times in 1 night many times...talk about beating your head aganst a brick wall...valuable resources keeping people alive who in reality want to die
