I wear Sex, he wears Pistols.
It was the wipe of the century.
Personally I think those slags took a liberty and if I find out where they live there's gonna be a lot of wet used toilet roll thrown at their windows.

Greetings Magoo,
"the type one might see being sold at local market stalls by a shifty looking gentleman called Nazrul."
Well acquainted with moody market gents called Nazrul - indeed I often accompany them to their preferred eatery to partake of an excellent Lamb Karai while conspiring in matters of mammon.
"I know it will play my porn discs OK as they are all genuine DVD not DVD-R or anything."
The fact is it's the cheap Chinese players that are the most compatible. They will play decently recorded DVD-R's no problem at all. It's your mid-market Panasonics, Hitachi's Samsungs etc, that may not find DVD-R's to their liking.
The Asda machines sound like they were simply just too cheap. Wal-Mart will have screwed down the Chinese manufactures down to the very borderline of profitability using components that when screwed together only just qualify the resulting machine as a DVD player. They will have been quite cynical in this believing that the vast majority of consumers are no taste, no sense, idiots, who want believe that you can get something for next to nothing. All these low-grade punters will see is that it is A DVD PLAYER and that it is ?25.00. Notions of a machines performance and durability never enter the heads of these knob heads. In fact their whole existence is devoid of quality control. Their minds are far too small to grapple with the conundrum of a ?25.00 DVD player vs. a ?2,500.00 DVD player.
Anyhow, my associates and I are planning a trip to the mega trade fair in China latter this year. Could be that we order a container or two of cheap, but good, DVD players and who knows what other wonders the Chinese will have to offer us for next to no money? Well, got to checkout other opportunities now that the old porn biz is becoming a bit of a drag.

yes Magoo the Pacific outputs true pal so no problem converting a ntsc dvd to pal vhs, as you say ASDA offered a 3 year no quibble guarantee but too many time wasters and piss takers were taking advantage of this as the specs went up on these machines they took them back and got a brand spanking new higher spec machine, these pacific dvd players are in my opinion the highest spec of the bargain basement dvd players and well worth the 30 or 40 quid you pay and if you aint happy you can toddle along to your local asda and take it back, the only thing they might not play are dvd-r which are recorded on a panasonic dvd recorder some models play them and some do not.

"When you go to this trade fair in China try not to start ranting about "third world nutmegs" or "communists"
Good tip Magoo. I'll endeavor to keep mi lip buttoned.
Not heard about that Vance chap, but a marble importer dude did come round one day to buy one of my Porsches of mi mum's front when I was runnin' 'Kerbside Motors - Cushty Conveyances At A Price You Can Afford.' And now you come to mention it, I had to shell out 3K for the African emerald granite worktops the last time I had mi kitchen tossed off. I bet the fuckers only paid ?50 quid for it!

The new (very new - a few weeks) Panasonic DVD Recorders now produce more compatible disks. Those produced by the E50 will not play on a Cyberhome. Those produced by the E55 will.
