moths are pathetic, what's the point of them?
they're nothing more than compressed dust flying around. ever noticed when you swat one, there is never any fluid/gunk call it what you like, just a dry silvery dust smear on your wall.

So you'd rather have ghastly yellow-and-red Essence of Bluebottle plastered all over yer anaglypta? Or crushed wasps pumping their venom all over the Wilton, and loathsome maggots peeping out of the holes in yer Gruyere, and cockroaches plastering your kitchen with bacteria? As insects go, moths are pretty benign......
Moths are very interesting and many are quite beautiful if you take the trouble to look. Their 'gunklessness' is mainly due to the very low level of fluid in their bodies- fluid which would add extra weight that their relatively flimsy wings and flight-muscles can't cope with.
They only have three interests in life: sugar, bright lights, and sex- which makes then a good deal like many humans.

I thought this was an allegorical moth , and Steve was trying to via imagery relating to how he saw himself , possibly trapped and hopelessy attracted to the wrong things ,to say something meaningful to everyone . We can kill the moth , but dies when we do ?

As the Americans in The Meaning Of Life remarked during their conversation, most of the great philosophers' names begin with the letter S----Socrates, Stuart Mill and Steve among them.

...Sartre, Schopenhauer, Sextus Empricus, Spinoza........yes: I see what you mean. Interestingly, there are no philosophers whose name begins with I or U, probably because of the confusion it would cause.

I wonder too if any of them would know why most people seem to be so down on moths, especially when there are so many other invertebrates far worthier of our contempt.
Michael Howard, for one.
Frank Skinner, for another.
