Given that Moore in his acceptance speech made reference to the pretzels incident, this seems almost prescient:

Were you equally surprised when an anti-US docu won a prize at the Oscars?

Do you know that the Cannes jury is not exclusively French? This years jury was chaired by Quentin Tarantino and also included Kathlenn Turner

Or are you confusing an anti-US docu with an anti-Republican docu made by an American?

Not every American who dislikes Dubya is anti-US, despite what you may have seen on Fox news.

If we didn't know better we might say "Don't drink and drive".

I pay little or no attention to annual back-slapping events like the Oscars. I'd imagine that since it runs largely on lobbying and backhanders, if the Democrats or whoever else supported Moore's POV lobbied and backhanded hard enough, it'd win. I'm more surprised that none of the Cannes lot seemed to realise that Moore's effort was directed exclusively toward a US audience. So much for the term 'international'.......

Yes, thankyou.

Both Democrats, possibly?

Point taken- I should have said 'anti-Bush' rather than 'anti-US'. His loathing of the man borders on the psychiatric.

I never watch Fox News, I wouldn't believe anything they said if I did, and I didn't address this (rather obvious) point anyway. Of course Moore loves his country- after all, it has given him the opportunity to have a fantastic lifestyle, with private jets and a huge house in NY.

No suprise, really. It's reportedly been a very poor Cannes - Tarantino at the helm, weak competition, big studio pushiness (Troy/Disney's Shrek 2 heavily promoted......) Ho hum.

Interesting article on Moore:

Hmmm....seems not everyone is impressed with his 'man-of-the-people but filty-rich' stance, and his economy with uncomortable things like 'facts'.
So, no surprise there, either.
