as noted before, anything which is not too extreme will get through customs without any hitches from the USA anyway, they may open it to take a look at the content or to charge VAT and Duty, some sites like fivestar are pretty notorious for packaging your goods so that they will be charged, and others have got ways of getting round it, pretty important to shop at the sites that can get round it as I have known the VAT and Duty coming to roughly 25%, so a hundred quid order will end up costing you ?125, which does make you think twice about ordering again.

There's that WILL again, not to mention FOR SURE. I think you exaggerate. As to the precise legality I'm not qualified to argue. It's the actual practice that you describe that I doubt.

There was a case mentioned on one of these forums a while back where someone brought in lots of hard core videos or DVDs. The junior customs officer wanted to confiscate on the grounds of the quantity involved, suspecting intention to sell, no doubt, but was overruled by his senior who said the person had a right to bring them in. The chance of a quantity of hardcore titles NOT containing anal is vanishingly slim these days. Of course they didn't have time to look at them, but that's precisely the point.

well i've had quite a few vids/dvds sent from the states and holland and i've never had anything opened. The only hardcore stuff that i've brought into the country myself was a pack of 'cumshot' playing cards one time i went to amsterdam. I got stopped by customs (they were more interested in looking for drugs), they found the cards, had a quick look through and a bit of a laugh and let me keep them.

As for this anal debate, how would the cops know? unless they come round my house and go through my stash they would never know what i've got.

I sorted fivestar out after getting hit twice for VAT: they use FedEx as default.
Just tell them to send your stuff USPS Global priority. Takes a few days longer, but worth it (and the shipping fee is less, of course).

What a coincidence - I logged in this evening cos I just had a v.similar letter through my postbox today, from Irish C&E (I'm in Dublin). I've never had problems before with stuff coming from the UK or US but this is my first time ordering from Holland (ordered a DVD thru vivthomas.com - straight H/C, nothing dodgy or extreme) and they've obviously nabbed it.

From reading these posts most people in the UK usually receive their stuff eventually... Has anyone any idea of how different Irish C&E are to the UK, ie if I'll be done for it or have it confiscated?
