I am otherwise engaged tomorrow but I dont subscribe to the notion of avoiding the media on these matters
There is a lot of misunderstanding about pornography and Im sick of hearing child porn and violent porn passed off as the main staple of porn in general
Its worth mentioning that all this scaremongering is an insidious attempt to legislate laws for more control
No one cared about the internet for years until a few thousand rogues abused it to push harder material to the public but yet while this is freely avialble on a google search, legitimate sites already have controls in place and are regulated by billing companies anyway
I agree with RGB, Anna Span is the best person to represent the business views on this topic

Yes, I have heard the prog. I think they have 3 questioners and some guests they question. Melanie Phillips is usually a guest with Michael Portillo.

The BBC has some sort of requirement for 'balance'. Most people who talk about porn don't know what they are talking about in my opinion. Let's see what sort of crap statistics they trot out.

It is incredibly frustrating to speak and not being heard but I'm of the belief that if you dont stand up and say what you have to then you should just accept all that comes your way when its too late to do anything about it

Avoiding the media is a very dangerous course. There is a maxim "no publicity is bad publicity" and that can be taken two ways and is true both ways.
Not to take part in any opportunity to spread your message, however opponents "spin" your contribution, can also be taken two ways:
1. You have something to hide and don't want to be found out.
2. You haven't a credible case for your argument and are afraid of having it exposed as non credible.
Too many people fed by the Daily Wail, Daily Depress and the Stun think mainstream porn is a dirty mac, under the counter, abusive and controlling of women industry run by and for perverted men - if you believe their stories.
The facts are different and many people who buy those papers also buy and use porn - a good percentage of them women but, because of the UK's national hang up about sex, which has grown up from the mid 19th century, few are willing to admit their involvement (from usage to participation).
Unless industry representatives make their case at every opportunity their will be more restriction and the anti brigade will drive the industry to where they say it already is, which is where they really want it, so they can make it a criminal activity.

That's very eloquent.
'1. You have something to hide and don't want to be found out.'
Bit ironic - Mysterman.

Joe, perhaps a reasoned argument as to why you can't stand up for what you feel is your right to produce/promote/use might have been a more useful response. If I were in the UK and in the industry, neither of which applies, I would have no problem in making my point on the programme or in any media.

Their point is ALL material produced for sexual stimulation is EVIL and should be banned.
In their minds there is no difference between consenting/non-consenting, non-violent/violent etc it's porn end of.
