At the moment the proposal has got 64 supporters.

See what I mean about little interest in the issue?

I for one am pleased they are censored. Their whole purpose is to titilate & entice. God forbid my kids being able to move through Sky unopposed.

Of course kids shouldnt be able to see hardcore porn, thats why there is a pin number and its on after midnight. If the parents have the pin number and keep it away from their kids,as well as making their kids are in bed as they should, then why shouldnt adults be able to view hardcore porn on a sex channel?

Cant but agree. I'm fed up with 'cant let kids have access to porn' being used as an excuse to prevent adults being able to watch material of, by and for, consulting adults, should they wish to.

Agreed, it's up to the parents to parent their children and should not affect my freedoms to see a bit of porn on the tv. The sky box comes with full parental restrictions available.

And I don't think the 64 supporters of the petition is any indication of a lack of interest, it's just that nobody believes that's actually going to change Government policy.

I have worked in the business for many years and am married to the industry in more ways than one. I do however think that the censorship of TV works pretty well. If we want to watch free to air (or subscription porn) what's wrong with us putting in a four-digit code? If the emphasis fully switches to the parent blocking the channel, then mistakes will happen and our kids will view things that we would all rather they didn't. In my opinion, which I am fully entitled to, things are fine as they and have come a bloody long way in the past few years.

JamesR, you seem very confused.

At the moment putting in a 4 digit code will not get you R18 material, because it's not allowed.

This thread was started because someone wanted to know if R18 is allowed on TV and the answer is that it's not. You seem to think it's allowed but you need to put a 4 digit code in to get it, which is wrong.

If your kids are watching the Sky Adult channels after midnight, having already obtained your 4 digit pin number, against your wishes, then, putting it bluntly, you are a crap parent.
And why should I not be able to watch something that is perfectly legal in the rest of Europe because of crap British parents?

Amazing. Another reminder of why offering a personal opinion is a dangerous thing to do among the minds of certain people.

I'll get my coat.

I find nasty's comment that there's no point in having an opinion because the government won't let it change their policy anyway to be utterly defeatist.
