I have read with digust, many posts in the past that refer to the carreer choices of adult models/pornstars as effectively a 'life sentence'. Regularly there have been comments such as "...well she knew what she was getting in to at 19, so she can have no regrets". What a load of rubbish. How many of us still have to be reminded of decisions we made many moons ago. I feel so sorry for those who particularly, got into the business more out of desperate need than a controlled carreer choice. And also for those who regret the levels that they were 'encouraged' to go to, usually at least one more level than they were truly comfortable.
I am lucky enough to be married to a well-known 'model' and striking a balance is extremely tough. One can be brazen about it and challenge everyone's response and moral opinions or you can choose whom you tell and when. The latter suits us better and has worked reasonably well. When our kids are old enough, they will be informed and we expect they'll be proud that their Mum was attractive enough for men to paw over her.
That there are top shelf DVDs with her photo on at the local petrol station is a small annoyance, especially as someone somewhere is still making money from it over ten years+ on from when the films were shot. But hey, them's the punches and they are small ones to suffer.
Porn nowdays has gone to a much stronger, extreme level however. Where not so long ago we used to clamour just to see a girl strip off or some soft lesbian stuff for example, girls now continue to try and reach stronger & stronger levels. A2M, double anal, watersports, skat, fisting, bukkake...the list goes on. I truly wonder how these girls will ratify such public displays that make them a few hundred quid a time, when their family and friends either find out or are told.

Have to agree that a lot of models are now doing porn for the wrong reasons & it will come back to bite their arse later.
We knew quite a few magazine owners when i started & they told me then you only do mags to become known & its always been the same.
Not doing the soft stuff don't make me invisible but with that & not working for other companies i have full control of my media.
While watching the Ben Dover prog the other day it sinks in how stereo typed you become as a pornstar, i do hope he makes it as a mainstream actor but trying to do something else at a older age after years of porn is hard.
I was going to retire at 50 but i'm more popular now than i was 10yrs back & still can't believe i have had number 1 spot on Glamour Finder for 18 months with all them pretty younger models on the site which is great for the ego.
If you are going to be a porn star think long term because its forever, if its a short term thing you'll regret it.

Oh waaah boo hoo! The evil porn producers strike again.
I resent this comment strongly Max. Thats typical a dig at producers why I think iti s good we have a producers association to represent producers interests and suggests we are exploitative...and yes we are explotiative in that we seek out people hire them to do a service in a way not unlike any other business exploits its resources to create an industry.
We pay them for a job, they are happy with the payment and walk away from our investement being fairly remunerated for a days work.
You forget that producers have to fork out hundreds on the day, thousands by the end of their complilation and costs to release and sometimes could take years to recoup that money.
There are producers who have gone out of business but the models have been paid their money already. So who is the one being exploited here really?
So break out your thumb violin please and play me a tune will you.
The only people that really profit in this business are the models/ performers and your comment is missing that fact.
Rant done, Im gonna have a cuppa. Want one?

Oh and I still have stuff of Laura Hermansen too that she got paid for pre 2003 that Ive still yet to make my returns on....6 years later!!!!
Lets have a big boo hoo for the producers who lined the models pockets because we all know they hated every minute of the job while they were doing it.
"Today i sucked Lee Henshaws cock and got paid for it by some guy behind the camera" wouldnt really wash for exploitation do you think?
Or vice versa and you'd expect the guys to be doing it for free.

Lots of intersing comments there. When people say that one's porn life many come back to haunt them years later, or when they say that they will explain it to their kids later on, it sort of hints that this is a bit more than just an ordinary career choice and is something that many participants regard as a bit bad. A mainstream career (waitress, accountant, airline pilot, interior designer) would never require secrecy from the family of the person involved nor would it be something that someone would say they will tell their kids about when older, when the time is right.
I'm obviously a big porn fan, like everyone on here, but in recent years a lot of people involved have talked about it as being ordinary - like 'I'm not a porn star I'm an erotic actress', 'its the men watching who are getting exploited, not me' (Michelle Thorne said that), and people behind the camera saying things like 'I'm a director and producer of adult related material' (that was said by that Seymore Butts guy in America, who had that series on TV). So I'm a tad puzzled why something that the people involve regard as a normal job would require secrecy from family and a reluctance to tell their kids about when their kids are older - but after taking a deep breath and getting their nerve up they eventually will. Like I say, I dont condemn it, I'm a fan of it. My fav porn girls are Laura Hermansen and Poppy Morgan. If I met one I would get a photo taken with her and get an autogapgh - I have a view on them like many people have towards popstars. I'm not down on the thing, but it seems some people involved in it are - or are at the very least a little bit ashamed.
Next. One Eyed Jack, I wasnt having a dig with my comment about how porn footage that is sold starring a girl after she has left the biz results in her not seeing any of the money. That is inevitable. There are musicians who have played on songs who only got a flat fee and see nothing of the profits that come as the thing continues to sell years later, and there are people who have starred in mainstream movies who would only get their fee on the day and never see any of the later money that is earned from latter day sales. This is fine and ordinary.
Without me being too instrusive, could I ask what a girl would have got in the early-2000's for appearing in porn? A mate of mine who is a fan of Laura's too said she probably bought a house with the money she made from the dozens and dozens of hardcore movies she made between 2001 and 2003. I said to him "I doubt it! This isnt Los Angeles you know. This is Britain!" My guess is Laura was paid something like ?250 per scene. She probably earned enough to buy a car.

Ill say this Max. If a girl isnt earning in excess of 40k a year minimum then she shouldnt be doing porn full time.
There are a lot of people now doing porn as a side line and furthermore, who are these people that keep their porn career secret?
People who solely do escorting prefer to keep that quiet I can understand but porn is something that is difficult to deny you do when product seems to be marketed on the internet and magazines etc.
My entire family know what i do and my kids are too young to know about it but there are plenty kids who have grown up and their parents know full well about their swinging lifestyles or porn career and are not strung out addled on drugs because of it.
At least the majority of people I know that is.

I have worked with a lot of girls in the porn industry not as many as OEJ admited, but in chatting with the girls most of them stated that they got into the business to make money, some girls would do three seperate hardcore shoots a day and quite often i was the evening shoot meaning they would turn up looking like Ann Widdecombe on a bad hair day [Sorry Ann] but think of the money these girls could make, the models would willingly sign a release and produce IDs as this is the normal agreement and would go on their merry way with another wad of cash with very little interest as to the intended use of the material, and as far as girls of eighteen not having a mind of their own at that age just remember this used to be the minimum age for capital punishment in the UK, and as a matter of fact wasnt abolished until after i myself was eighteen but it hadnt been used for about four years prior, but you are deemed to be responsible for your actions at that age otherwise 18 year olds wouldnt be allowed to vote would they? !wink!

Not sure about content swap but we supply the girls we film with a mini DV master, a DVD with menu e.g. film & photo gallery to copy & sell, edited clips with pics for adult work (earnings on AW alone can be from ?50-300 a week for photos & film clips) & high res pics on a CD Rom.
They like this as they earn more money over a period of time on their sites than what they would do with a one off payment, the girls we work with seem happy as they keep coming back for more content share & it also builds us a large network of models who can also work with each other.
TFP & test shoots still go on but this attracts new models rather than seasoned ones.

>Oh waaah boo hoo! The evil porn producers strike again.
Oh come on.
My wife (mentioned earlier) made some films for John Lindsay back in 1974/75and she got about ?20 for each film.
She was 18 and had no idea about the "real world" and finance.
But there is a web site were these films can STILL be downloaded for a fee (and she gets no money of course) so someone is still making money from them.
So it does work both ways.
