I used to order videos from US websites - about five in all, but the last one never turned up so I told the website & they sent another copy. A day or two later I found out why the tape didn't turn up - customs had confiscated it & sent me a standard letter as mentioned by 'dave'. This shit me up a bit aswell as having to explain the letter at home (it had customs stamped on the outside) so I stopped ordering tapes from outside the UK.
I would be interested to know if customs keep a record of your address so that if they confiscate tapes on 3 or 4 occasions they would take further action?
I think if you are only ordering 1 or 2 tapes at a time you won't get in trouble & I don't expect DVDs get searched at all.
So the safest bet: buy a DVD player!

DVDs most certainly DO get searched! I know of two people who have had goods seized since the law change on R18. Basically, you pays your money and takes your chance.
