Why so? We all know rape is wrong but why is a rape fantasy wrong?

Excellent points, Mr Ate-all-the-Pies.

I think it's also worth remembering that heavy-material can have a de-sensitizing effect on the would-be-viewer. In the wrong hands, I don't think this is the way to provide sexual-stimulation . . .

I'm subjected to agree also. I'm not into rough treatment either. Fantasy Rape (after less than ten years) is still new to me. And since I've got a computer about a year ago now I've seen pics of rape and vid clips of fantasy rape but it's not something I get off on in real life with whoever I'm with. Butt smacking? Ok. But choking? Throat grabbing? No way! However I've known women who don't mind a little rough things like light hair pulling, or even pinning down her arms or in terms of maybe your wife or significant other, "taking it" as long as she doesn't object. I think though that these guys in these movies screw so much that they need something a little over the top to get them off. I've got a movie where a guy spitted in a woman's mouth! Yuckie!

No, reducing this to child abuse is the same argument the anti-porn campaigners have used for decades. These are two grown up adults engaging in rough sex. Absolutely fuck all to do with child pornography or animals.

This is the same kind of silliness that meant we were banned from seeing Bruce Lee use nunchakus for 30 years because it was claimed "If you see Bruce Lee use nunchakus you will automatically go out and hit someone with a nunchaku". 3 years ago we were allowed to see the nunchaku scenes and, amazingly enough, not everyone went out and hit someone over the head with a nunchaku.

Don't confuse sex with real life and don't confuse the actions of two consenting adults with child abuse.

Nah this is the mary whitehouse philosophy. If you see Pulp Fiction you go out and start shooting people. It's bollocks and always has been. Watching a porno dvd isn't going to turn you into a rapist.

Rape has been around a lot longer than porno dvds.

Alex i think you confused the meaning of desensitizing with influential.
its a proven fact that the more you are exposed to of anything you become desensitized of it, like morticians not getting a Dicky belly when a fresh stiff gets wheeled in, a bad smell that is there but because you've sat there for so long the brain stops registering it, that feeling of butterflies you get when you get on a plane for the first time, that perfume your missus always wears but you never noticed how good she smelt until she changed her scent, how great something tastes when you first bite in to it and you can taste all the different flavours but somehow just becomes ordinary food halfway through (unless I've cooked it of course !wink!) if you have noticed, all media have just gone more and more for the shock factors over the years. just compare a film from the 50's to one today, what excited people years ago just doesn't tickle us anymore. why? because we have become desensitized to it all.
young people become desensitized very quickly with the type of female abusing misogynistic porn thats being churned out today and are INFLUENCED by it into thinking this is how you behave towards a woman in the bedroom, most of us started on whats known as vanilla i call it classy.
just don't buy the stuff!
rant over this ones been bugging me
luv n hugs to all

I get the knub of your gist Karina and I guess it does desensitise you in that way but I still don't see the link between watching two consenting adults engaging in rough sex and real rape. Just like I don't see the link between watching Pulp Fiction and then going out and shooting someone.

There's a fundamental difference between watching a film of consenting adults pretending and real rape. Just like there's a fundamental difference between watching Patrick Swayzee shoot someone and real murder.

Hey guys

For all it's worth (not much!), I feel obliged to chuck in my tuppence-worth here - and I have to say that I agree with pretty much everything Karina Currie says.

I can absolutely see both sides of the argument here, and certainly don't agree with much of the UK's draconian censorship laws. However, I personally feel that when you see some of the rough treatment discussed in this thread, many of our lovely ladies are reduced to nothing more than a piece of (low-grade) meat.

For me, it's all about what "feels" right; you know when you see/hear something what your "gut" reaction is; extreme/abusive-type sex really churns my stomach. Do guys (and/or girls) who are into this type of thing like the taboo/perceived wrong nature of the sex rather than the actual acts themselves ? (if that question makes sense: I ask this with no malice/sarcasm on my part).

And Karina's point about becoming de-sensitised/habituated to this type of thing rings true with me, too. It's all too often about having to out-do the predecessor (in all areas of life, not just porn) - for this type of porno, the (arguably) 'natural' progression is to push the boundaries more and more. Where does it end? Or do we just let the ominous "market" decide?

Just my views: I'm sure someone will pick holes in what I've written soon enough!!! Hey, at least we're having a sensible debates about this!
