It's a way of getting on the ladder, the promise of paid work if you impress. The (mainstream) film industry in this country is full of rich trust fund kids who can work for nothing just to get inside and try to work their way up.

In any competitive, high profile industry there are always going to be people who are willing to work for free just to be given a chance, and always people who are going to exploit this.

I'd be surprised if the ad was actually placed by a magazine. Seems a very unlikely way to go about it. Smacks more of a very dodgy photographer dangling the 'magazine' carrot for unsuspecting girls

I agree with Neil, if a girl is so naive then she needs to be looked after and educated by the responsible people in the industry. If not then the whole business simply falls into the trap of being what the moral "majority" claims it to be; seedy and exploitative.

you could argue though, that if they are so innocent and gullible then the AVI is no place for them...
