If I may wade in with two pennies worth but although it is true that documentaries don't generally pay they at the very least pay expenses and sometimes a nominal contributors fee depending on the nature of the documentary. And as RDF is hardly renowned for its hard hitting social expose but more prime time entertainment I don't think it would be amiss if you did offer a fee.
