If cost is an issue consider the Sigma SD9 It is going to be replaced with the SD10 and at ?900 for the body is great value and the price may drop a bit more.Now the quality is first rate (Go to dpreview,com forums and read)The only downside is that it processes everything as RAW and then you have to run the conversion software on the PC.Now I do Cityscape andd Architecture and the quality is amazing and a A3 the resolution is fantastic

Most mags ( well the top ones anyway ) are still reluctant to take digital over slides. As for there being money in porn - don't believe a word of it.

Agree 100% the EOS 10D is a dream to use and pretty good vfm imho. Avoid the 'throwaway' cheapo Canon lenses like the 28-90 as they definately are false economy, instead be prepared to spend at least ?200 on a decent piece of glass. I use a 28-105 F3.5-4.5 (with x1.6 factor = 48 - 168mm), quick focussing, sharp and quiet (beware there is a cheaper version F4.5-5.6 which is not as good). Other people I know are very impressed with the 28-135 IS with image stabilisation.

I use the Nikon D100, I had a Nikon D1x and a D1 before that. I find the build quality is good, the images are sharp and it handles like a 35mm camera.
And for those of you that went to Erotica and saw the Alicia poster (dressed as Britannia) on the Parbo stand (60" x 40") that was taken on a D100!

Totally agree Dave with the mags, I always shoot a couple of rolls on me old eos5 as well just to save the day. Photo-taker it all depends if you are a pro or not, some guys spend ?20 on a DVD I spend ?10000 on a DVD someone spending 4k on work stuff is nothing.
I always look at the whole tech thing like a roundabout, choose when you want to get on pay the money and make it work for you, If you you wait for the cameras to get cheaper how much money do you loose. The D60 has never been refused anywhere, my pictures go worldwide my biggest gripe with all these cameras is they never work on auto (or is it me) I always put everything including the flash on manual then I can play with the light a bit more,,,

The DCS14 is not a camera I would recomend for glamour work because it's to slow, Kodak actually acknowledge it's more of a camera for studio product work and to be worked via a computer interface.

I personally have 6 Nikon D100's together with 2 complete sets of lenses all Nikon and 2.8's, dunno that I'd recommend them, 2 have broken down within a month of buying them, one is in with Nikon at the moment having an aperture control plate replaced for the second time in a year, mind you all these camera's between them churn out on average 2500 images a week.

As for being able to sell digital images to magazines, well I phoned around several and they still want transparencies, bit old hat if you ask me, If you want to make serious money from photography don't touch the glamour market with a barge poll.
