If this is the case in your posts, have a look at your settings in your profile.
The default setting of the board is BB-Code => No
So, just change that to Yes in your settings and quotes and image postings will work as they should:
If you have the default setting, you will see when you are posting under your draft, that the checkboxes 'Disable BBCode' and 'Disable smilies' are ticked. In this case, you can also uncheck this boxes and the BB-Code will work. It's for this post only, so it's better to change the global settings.
