What is the time scale of fuel cars with the onset of pushing electric cars
I can't see the trade offering any real price for petrol cars say in five years
Will petrol rise to a really silly level
I asked a specilist car converter the cost of changing a soft top beetle to electric , the ball part figure was ?25-32k .
So no value in old cars
With the lie about diesel , why buy into the new electric vehicle expensive save the planet fad...... But it won't be a fad
I just wonder what will happen with all the petrol cars
Future petrol cars with electric cars
Re: Future petrol cars with electric cars
Bit of a side note but if you look at any local planning application for retail expansion you can bet it will include conditions of including electric charging points. Councils seem to be seeing cateering to a minority of electric cars as a get out of jail free ticket for their environmental responsibilities. So they may destroy green belt, wildlife habitats, hundreds of years old trees but at least they put charging points in for the non-existent electric cars.
Re: Future petrol cars with electric cars
Electric cars are never going t take off until they sort out the range issue.
Who wants a car that you can't take more than 120 miles if you have too.

Re: Future petrol cars with electric cars
But no one will need them because there's HS2 and the extra runway at Heathrow.
Oh hang on.....

Re: Future petrol cars with electric cars
Something else to consider. We regularly get warnings of potential (though as yet unseen) power cuts due to excessive demand in winter but what about the extra burden on the national grid from all these people charging their cars up as soon as they get home from work?
Re: Future petrol cars with electric cars
The price of supply will go up
as the Government will have to find the loss of Car Tax
The grid import electricity from France , (EDF) and I'm sure they will not miss a
trick and put the price up
It does seem it has not been thought through , as least in the Public arena , perhaps the car Giants it , so as to keep the money rolling in.

and anti social driving
Including the topic of electric car I thought I would ask about anti social behaviour
Starting with young drivers who insist on being in the lane three of a motor way when the road is clear
Or the younger drivers staying at the speed limit due to I assume the insurance tag in her car but not caring about other users
Of course old duffers like me are far from perfect

Re: and anti social driving
Personally I'd raise the driving age to 21 and lower it at the other end to 70 or 75. I'd stop large retail parks or supermarkets from building huge car parks which are often used for race-meets without appropriate fencing at the entrances and insist on them only having a single vehicle entrance open if they open 24 hours a day. Nighttime staff can't be expected to challenge gathering gangs.
Re: Future petrol cars with electric cars
Electric and Hybrid cars are the short-term solution. It would make more sense for the motor companies to accelerate (no pun intended) the development of Hydrogen Fuel Cell technology as as the most viable and sustainable alternative to petrol/diesel cars.
The technology to extract hydrogen from seawater is already being tested, see this article: https://www.sciencealert.com/new-nanoma ... hine-alone
The only emissions from a hydrogen fuel cell is water, which can be split into hydrogen and oxygen again and again.
The future is the same gas that fuels the Sun.
