what price softcore?

Here's something that puzzles me. In these days of hardcore R18 why is there still a market for softcore stuff? Maybe I have become jaded, but unless a small ginger woman is getting DPed by two large African-Americans pretending to be barmen I'm not interested. I find it puzzling that, for example, it seems that many of the people here buy the Sport and watch softcore satellite channels. I'm not being judgmental, but I'm genuinely interested as to why - in this age of immediately accesible online filth, hardcore films back in the stores for the first time since 1984, etc - people still look at that stuff. Personally I have never subscribed to satellite sex channels and haven't bough top shelf mags since I was 19 or the Sport since I was 17. I spend a reasonable amount (around ?100 a month) on hardcore DVDs, but I don't understand the concept of spending money on softcore - for example, two weeks of the Sport newspaper costs the same money as an awesome hardcore video/DVD. Why opt for the former? Am I desensitised or am I missing something? Serious question.

There are people who still get turned on by the softcore believe it or not. I had a girl friend come around this evening and borrowed a hardcore and glimpsed a softcore video that turned her on and borrowed that as well.

Apparently the market for softcore videos are more widely available and make more money than its softcore counterpart. I'm as puzzled as you are. Things may change though when harder versions become more easily available.

Easy one this, my stuf is in HMV & Virgin etc the guy who buys the 18 vesion would not be seen dead in a sex shop but wants a bit of tit-a-lation, its not the strength they are after. Think about it I know mates who have pulled it to Arobics Aus Style cause it was available. Who has not found the underware pages of Kays catelogue erotic at some stage. A lot of the best looking girls still don't go the full hardcore route so if you want to see'em you have to look at the soft stuff.

Btw, if two weeks of the Sport costs you the same as a h/c DVD your newsagent's ripping you off!

Same reason people go to strip clubs and not brothels. Same reason why half of us subscribe to UK digital adult channels. The tease. Now there is good softcore and bad softcore, no doubt, but bottom line is I like it because I like to tease myself. God, I'm my own worse enemy.

A video need not be hardcore to be arousing IMO

The one thing with most h/c is that it leaves very little to the imagination
Too much of the same thing becomes mind numbing

The only s/c vids I have ever bought were of well known page 3 icons
Which were really just photo shoots & interviews

I would never fork out cash for s/c 18 dvds like class action & nightcalls

Strange thing is, neither would I. But I still have dozens of videos chock-a-block with my favourite TVX/TAC programmes over the years. I find sexual scenes / scenarios on mainstream films more arousing then 18 cert softcore productions, I think. Depends how horny I am though, to be frank. Sometimes anything is enough to, ahem, do the job.

It's the seduction element that always gets me. I am an absolute sucker for being seduced. I have no idea why. Just am. So any film in which a guy is seduced, which happens infrequently but occasionally in mainstream films is going to be enjoyed by me more then once!

First thing is HC is not that widely available.

In Cumbria there are 2 licenced sex shops, both owned by Private, both run by complete twats and are still charging upwards of ?40 for a DVD.

Sex shops have to be licenced by the local council, many won't in case they lose votes.

And before anyone starts our local council is Tory, the leader owning several newsagent who sell Cheri, Whitehouse etc........

Secondly in public many people still won't admit to be turned on by porn.

Thirdly as already said many of our favorite models have never done HC, partly because it was illegal at the time and partly because in the UK you won't get any other jobs on TV etc if you have done HC. Natasha Vale is a real exception but she only did a couple of photosets, I doubt she will be seen presenting THe Holiday Prog etc.........
