We have a small awards, ceremony at the plus show on the Sat 17th. this year will be 10 awards for new and old faces, perhaps you would like to choose one categorie Like best Actress,film fight about it a lot and then take a vote, the award would be called BGAFD Actress Award. Let me know if you are interested. This may well be a real option as the event looks like a big success with the web site getting 2-4k hits a day right now and we still have 10 pages of Sport advertising and 30,000 leaflets to put out,

This raises an interesting (to me) point. Who should be responsible for handing out awards?
For the conventional film and tv worlds we have the BAFTA, and their members decide who gets an award (as do the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in the US) In the adult industry the awards in the US are given by the trade magazine, Adult Video News.
Nowadays there are also awards that are voted for by the punters and these are generally organised by the press in Britain..
For Britporn there is neither an trade association or trade magazine (afaik).

I'm not sure that a single award in the name of BGAFD is what we're looking towards here... I think we're looking towards British Porn Awards to rival those of AVN in the USA... Pretty much like the Grammys v the Brits in music industry terms...
Although your offer is very much appreciated, I think it is out of context - though may I be the first to make a nomination... I'll do it at the end of the message!
Here's how I think we should progress this issue;
1 - A few people get together to form an "awards committee"... Who should be eligible - well, providing there isn't a bias - I think it should be open to producers, performers, suppliers/retailers AND Viewers... Obviously, when considering awards in their own category, the relevant representatives cannot participate - i.e. a porn producer cannot deliberate best producer, likewise best female cannot be deliberated by a female performer and so forth... Obviously - this constitution of the group is only my opinion and is up for discussion...
2 - The awards committee then decide on a timetable of events - I suggest we look towards November/early Dec for the first Awards ceremony... Regular meetings take place and they thrash out the detail, regular updates and consultation with the BGAFD forum also being important...
3 - The committee set the categories and relevant groups put forward their own nominations... i.e. All interested parties are asked to make nominations...
4 - The committee then sit and debate the various niminations and draw up a short list...
5 - The short list is then published to an awards website and REGISTERED members can cast a vote in certain categories... By having a registration system would HELP prevent any corrupt practice... Only HELP! If someone is determined then yeah, they can beat the system.
6 - Some awards will be decided SOLELY by the committee - or even a sub committee that is maybe picked at random... i.e. 1 producer who doesnt feature in short list, 1 female performer not in shortlist, 1 stud, I retailer etc, etc...
7 - Obviously a venue will have been chosen earlier as part of the committees job, tickets sold, sponsorship sought, media coverage (!!!!) attempted etc, etc....
8 - The event takes place - everyone has a great night and a good pre-Christmas party!
It's time we took pride in this industry and showed them out there it's an industry worthy of respect and social status!

But, I gotta go for Angel Long...
Reason - a) Volume of work - she's a prolific girl! b) Comes across as totally and utterly "into her work", c) Vocals, facial expression, movements, attitude, "nastiness" - second to none... Whilst probably not possessing "typical" porn star looks, and whilst probably not meeting my "ideal woman" criteria - this is one girl I really cannot get enough of!
I also have a soft spot for Miss Caine - or is it Phylis somebody or other now??? I think Sandie is a great advert for the "commercial sex" scene - Extremely liberated young lady who is very, very committed and into her work... Also spoken about very highly by people who have met her and contributes heavily and intelligently to the forum...

The dreaded word COST enters the equasion. Without sponsorship it would be practically impossible to stage at a suitably imposing venue.

Marcus - I do agree entirely... but as I have said quite early on in this thread - if it comes to that we have to hold the event in a village boozer - SO BE IT!!!!
We have to start somewhere - the more we talk about it, think about it, the less it is likely to happen... Many, many great things have started from humble, modest beginnings... And lets not forget, Brit Porn is low budget, pretty much verging on home-made stuff.... Maybe we didn't ought to be setting our sites "above our station" - if you get my drift...
Yes, I do agree that we shouldn't "sell ourselves short", that we should try to create the right impression etc, etc... but I'd rather we kicked the thing off than let it drift....
If we want to raise the profile of this industry, want to show we are not ashamed to be associated with it - let's be the pioneers... We'll ony know if sponsorship is forthcoming if we look for it - and sponsors are only going to take us seriously if we show them we are serious....
