Lest we forget, the U.S mentality of being well turned out for porn in general may stem from half the porn stars in LA either aspired to become porn stars in the first place or were failed actors trying to make it in Hollywood.

The home made/ real girl look was unheard of until the video revolution allowed the average man to afford a video camera to make his own porn which is quintessentially english to begin with.

This may have been brought about by the fact porn was illegal way back then a few years ago. Now porn has a limited level of legality to it, more and more peole are coming into it and in time we will spawn some new talent that may raise the level of standards all round in this small industry of ours. Competition is indeed good. Here's to the day.

This is a great debate.

My own opinion is because the UK industry is less professional and pays much worse than contracted stars in the US(eg Jenna who is a household name and almost respected by women for being a successful businesswoman) the standard of girls is poor at the moment.

I recall one producer posting here saying many of the best looking girls are working in lap-dancing where I believe ?60000 a year is achievable.

If the UK industry was more professional and spruced up its image away from the dirty mack brigade then I think more quality girls would join as performers.

My preference is for natural girls, well dressed, no tattoos or piercings, unfortuanately most Brit producers think scruffy sluts are what we all want.

If the money was good I think Adele, Rebekah T etc may have gone further than a few photsets.

It's simple. British laws mean British producers can't make huge amounts of money, so they can't pay huge amounts of money. Therefore, the girls who do it, do it because they like it. If they got paid a couple of grand a film, then the quality of looks would improve enormously.
Of course, the quality of performance might then suffer. Our "amateurs" (in the Latin sense) are seldom criticised for a lack of enthusiasm.
And by the way, whilst Bobbi is right about the fact that quite a lot of girls are pretty "average", which nowadays means flabby and overweight, we do have a few stunners. Karina has been mentioned, and there are several more.

The problem has been, due to censorship rules over the recent past, that no prominent studio has come through to the fore

There is no Vivid, no Private and so on

We are still at the amateur stage and thus the money isnt there and the true beauties stay away

Also, there is a taste for the rough and ready girl next door sex. Thats ok and can be fun, but the premium on looks is less , and then the market dictates

We also have a joky slightly embarrassed approach to sex. that can be fun, but the slick professionalism and sheer erotica of private an the major american studios is something we do not seem to aspire to

For my money, I like a bit of all sorts. A lot of German porn is too rough and alot of American too plastic. Some of the very best erotic films I ahve seen have been French.They often push the right buttons for me. Shame they are seemingly hard to get hold of
