General Opinon on British Female Porn Stars

Now I'm sure I'm going to get blasted for saying this, but I can't help noticing that the quality of female british porn stars seems to be rather...well...lacking at the moment.

Now I know there are plenty of exceptions and we have churned out a few beautiful and well formed stars (most of which seem to go to the USA) but in general many of the British girls performing in productions here are either slightly overweight or just badly kept. I'm surprised that girls who make a living from their bodies would do seemingly no more to keep them in shape then girls I might bump into in the local nightclub.

The most notable exception to this rule is Bonnie Hart, who I think is both beautiful and perfectly toned. But she doesn't seem to be a fraction as prominent as some other girls who are just plain ordinary, pallid or flabby and appearing in British films all the time.

If you take a country like France (which has a slighter lower population than the UK) there are dozens of more beautiful porn stars. So is it something to do with the British attitude to sex or their own bodies? (Or my personal taste?)

On the other hand, British UK male performers (with the exception of Terry Stephens) have bodies that easily keep up with their US male counterparts.

Sure you're all going to throw abuse at me for mentioning this, but it's just a personal opinion.

It's probably your personal taste, but sharing that taste with
a forum such as this is inviting flak.

Personally, I welcome a diversity of "looks" amongst porn-stars.
Mainstream entertainment such as Ally McBeal is already promoting
a waif-like look. Porno should not do the same.

Its probably fair to say that there is a "Readers Wives" like
quality to most Brit-Porn, but the "reality" is what makes it
special in comparison to the porn of other countries.

I have to say that I am not overly concerned with a porn stars looks.... and in fact I am rather disturbed by the prevailing attitude such that;

"I'm a porn star, therefore I must look like a porn star"

It's ludicrous... porn isn't about "a look" - well, ok, I suppose for some, it may play a more important part than others... but if it is looks you want, then why not look elsewhere for beauty - but I am at pains to point out that I do not hold your view that British porn stars are pig ugly and outta shape...

I think Lurker is correct - Brit-porn does have a certain "off the cuff" feel about it - low budget, girl next door sorta feel... and that's great - I find it far more preferrable to high budget, glossu, choreographed scenes with false "bimbos" putting on a show for the camera....

Give me a raw, horny, nasty, filthy, disgusting bitch any day of the week - her looks come secodary to her performance.

Hi Bobbi, interesting thread you've started here. To my defence, I am not a porn star and do not take offence to your comments as such. I'm more of a performer by necessity, ie: I save money on male talent by doing what I consider to be just as good as our regular performers...some may say better, but that's not the issue.

I see my self as representative of the average guy and don't feel that all guys and girls have to look chiselled and fit. My popularity grew out of the home made films I shot in the early days. That's just my style. I shoot a cross section of men and women in a cross section of ages and see myself making "people porn" rather than fitting into any of the teen or model type genre. There are bigger and better producers than me making this type of product.

As for the shortage of good looking fit girls, I'd say it's swings and roundabouts, every now and again we get cute, pretty and fit girls who come along but I reckon more pretty and fit girls will take notice and consider a career in porn when the stigma of appearing in porn films wears off and the rates of pay are upped accordingly.

To some of you out there reading this, please don't start another thread on models being underpaid. It's boring and offensive to us producers trying to make a living selling the product when we aren't getting much more money for it...So don't go there. This subject has been broached before and I suggest those interested check out this topic in the archive section.

Over in the US, I think it is fair to say that one of the consistently successful producers has been Ed Powers... it is quite clear WHY Ed Powers has been consistently successful....

He isnt the chiselled superfit guy from malibu beach, he isn't a monster cocked stereotypical porn star - he's an average, run of the mill guy...

I honestly do not know where the obsession with looks comes from, particularly in porn....

May I also add that Kate Moss, Jodie Kidd and Naomi Campbell do nothing whatsoever for me in terms of "Wow-Factor"... And if you believe the media - these are THE images for adulation....

As for Terry's point reference pay... Terry - as I said to Giles in an earlier thread - we each put a value on something, money and its value is subjective... its down to the individual to pay it and up to the individual if they choose to accept it.... Take it or leave it... simple as that... And like myself and cp have been discussing in other threads - if performers were in porn for the money alone, I think porn would suffer for it... Keep doing what you're doing Terrence - it's all good stuff!

Bobbi's right, with notable exceptions British porn stars are plain ordinary.
American porn stars look better though not always to my taste. French and Czech pornsters tend to look incredible and German and Dutch (with exceptions) a bit dowdy. Criticism here tends to met with a funny debate or white-faced defensiveness in the main. British pornsters are not too famous for their reliability.
