Hi Steven/Jaydee
Thanks for your comments i will talk to our techies and see what can be done .As im not technical not sure how they upload them but they do get master copies so quality should not be an issue.
I have thousands of stills taken from our shoots but wasnt sure if there is still a demand for this, bearing in mind your getting the video what do others think if there is a demand i will put some up ,let me know what you think?
Lastly one other question for all of you ,would there be a demand for some clips of behind the scenes ,been thinking about this for sometime ,let me know(you might get to see the gorgeous Georgette Neale behind the camera!!!!)
Cheers
Mike

Re: UK Student House Web Site Free view
The videos would be clearer and smaller in file size if they were encoded in the .avi format. Also pics would be great to see to. Remember not everyone has broadband connection, it takes an age to download a 5 minute movie.
If you look at some of the movies available for free on kazaa encoded in .avi format they are very clear, if I was a paying customer I would expect similar.

Re: UK Student House Web Site Free view
Hi,
JayDee's cooment about pictures is very valid I think. The current setup has just 1 picture for each clip, and that does not give you a good enough idea of what the clip is about. As Z has said, not everone has broadband, and it takes dial-up users a long time to download a clip, it would be better if they could have a better preview so they only download the ones they definately want to see. Some of the preview pictures you cant actually see who is starring in the clip, so a list of performers for each clip would be helpful, so users can just download their favourites.

Re: UK Student House Web Site Free view
First, Mike thanks for opening up the site - I'm sure its inspired many of us to take a look back in the future and in the meantime to hunt out a few DVDs!
Valid point by Steven on naming the performers (at least the female ones) and also on a clear pic for each clip. Your site is about vid and I'm sure there is no real need to post pages of pics when most people wouldn't look at them. It isgood to have a clear pic of the performer in each clip tho.
Also agree on AVI - generally give good quality if (like you) there is a good source.
Behind the Scenes clips are cool - give the site and the performers a little more depth. They are also the sort of thing you can use as tasters in your marketing etc, etc.
What I saw looked very good - the tech quality might be a little better but I have seen worse! I'm sure that some of the suggestions above could help with that. Meanwhile, I won't look a gift horse in the mouth - thanks again MikeSteven wrote:

Re: UK Student House Web Site Free view
Just to give my view on AVI,
I'm sure the small AVI files that Crimpo and others are referring to are DivX encoded AVI files. I think the guys who built the ukstudenthouse website have opted to use WMV files for good reasons. WMV has certain advantages over DivX encoded AVI.
If a user downloads a WMV file, but does not have the required codec to playback the clip, the windows media player will automatically connect to microsoft and download the needed codec. A user who downloads a DivX encoded AVI file will sinply be faced with a message saying "a suitable decompressor for this file could not be found". For users who dont understand codecs or know where to go for the DivX codecs, they would be left frustrated at not being able to view the clips - no such problem with WMV
Secondly the WMV files can be opened before they are fully downloaded. A user is able to partially download the file and view a little bit before deciding whether to download it all. AVI files do not open unless the file is complete, or unless you have the knowledge to run a partially downloaded file through DivFix program. This also means that if a dial-up user gets disconnected part way through downloading a WMV file, they can still open it and view what they managed to get, whereas a DivX AVI simply wouldnt open at all.
Contrary to the beliefs of some people here, file sizes do not differ much between WMV and DivX AVI, and WMV, if done properly, can provide just as good quality.
So, in my opinion they are perfectly right to use WMV files, well done for that Mike@MSS

Is there any clips with mouse in it? (Great website.)
Re: UK Student House Web Site Free view
Hi killer glad you enjoyed it
Mouse is in UKSH 6 (g/g with Ashley Long) so they are either there or will be uploaded when we next update the site. Some of the clips are changed on a weekly basis so there is always fresh content

Re: UK Student House Web Site Free view
I enjoyed the clips but found thsat even withbroad they took quite a long ime to download ie three times the length of the clip. I am not vety IT literate so if this is normal my apologies. Thanks very much anyway.
