With the number of questions regarding this magnificent industry (eg distribution issues) that people have, including myself, is there any resource/company available that can offer qualified legal advice on such matters ?
I know after visiting the avn site that the states has a number of such companies.
If not why not ?
Surely there must be some legal students who can recognise a niche in this market.
any UK legal experts for the sex industry
Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
I would imagine you can enquire at a reputable media law firm.
Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
The laws are naturally very convoluted and completely open to interpretation.9This is England)
However, in practice, it is quite clear what one may or may not do (legally).
i.e. where the lines are drawn.
Depends what you mean by distribution.

Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
regarding distribution..I am aware that uk law is complete ass in this area, in as much as its okay for foreign companies to send hardcore mail order to uk citizens as long as its sent from abroad, yet illegal for uk companies to depatch their products mail order from within their own country.
fair enough...absolute b****cks, but fair enough.
my questions would regard how would a uk limited company be able to profit from hardcore legally. somehow, a foreign company would have to be set up to deal with the mail order etc etc, and these two companies would have to "communicate" financially.
how would this be done legally ? etc
I suppose you could just say f**k it and send it from the uk anyway,
but in the light of a pending courtcase involving a very well established uk distributor who sent mailorder...
you can easily see how someone could make a lot of money selling this advice

Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
Fuck selling it, I'll give it to them for a bottle of scotch.
As for the company/commercial aspect, it will be common knowledge to anyone with a modicum of legal training in commercial law. (or it should be, dunno about these modern schools)
Anyway, Why? Is it your intention to distribute or sell advice?

Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
i am not really interested in going back to school for 5+ years to gain the legal training and be suitably qualified to give such advice, wayyyy too old for that ... !!
I dont think standard commercial law includes the intricacies of the uk's antiquated attitude towards profiting from sex.
then again it might do for all I know.
guess it means thumbing through the yellow pages then.
Was hoping someone might know of a suitable and experienced font of knowledge to save all the wasted phone calls.

I am not being sarcastic or detrimental, regardless how it may sound or be received.
The subject has been covered ad infinitum on this and other sites.
Perhaps you might start by having a look at (Hope I've done it right for once!)
Should you have a serious query/proposition, please feel free to mail me.

Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
I graduated from law school in 2001, I was gonna go into law but I found it a incredibly dull. Law is usually quite logical and fair though. The ability for other countries to sell their filth via mail order in the UK, where UK companies themselves cannot seems very unfair.
However law can be a pain in the arse and incredibly intricate and complex, for me to answer your question I would have to read lots of law books and journal articles and research the common law. It is not an easy task, but most commercial lawyers will be able to help you, they will be expensive though.

With respect, I'm amazed you even graduated. Like I said, "Modern schools"!!!
Re: any UK legal experts for the sex industry
Marcus is right that this has been covered many times in this forum.
It always starts the same. You basically ask if anyone knows a solicitor with a bit of experience in this field and always after a lot of waffle the answer is No.
