Never walk out on a shoot in 8 years i,ve model,

Post by sarahjane2 »

Hi

I wanted to post this to warn other models about a very bad experience i had a shoot on Saturday in Birmingham 18th May 2013, which i got from Purestorm
the photographer had 21 good to great references including some top UK models

On arrival at the shoot which was booked for two hours, for solo only
i was met at the door by the photographer who seemed a bit on edge ( which i thought was odd as i have said previous he has worked with models before ...so not his first time ) at his home studio on walking in to the house, i was taken a back by the the very strong smell of what i can only describe as urine, this was then followed by screams and shouts.
which obviously made me feel very uneasy
i was told to wait there and with a few seconds he returned with a very elderly woman who he introduced to me as his mother !

he explained to me that she had 'Senile Dementia' she then started to swear at me an spat in my direction, and was clearly in distress

feeling a bit uncomfortable with all this i made an excuse and headed to the toilet

an called my partner telling him what was happening, he said to me to just leave and keep my phone in my hand in case i needed to make a 'quick call'.

Obviously i, as a professional, did not wanna just walk out, but on leaving the toilet i glanced into the bedroom where the shoot was going to take place, i know this was the venue for the shoot as the outfits and lights etc were set up ( i later found out this was his mothers bedroom !!! )

to my shock an horror i also saw human feces laying on the bed that i was expected to work on

i, feeling sick called for a taxi to get away before i explained to the photographer that i was leaving ( i did it this way round as at least i knew someone was coming and some else other then my partner who was about 200 miles away knew where i was )

i said tho the photographer that i was not happy with the whole set up ie the venue the state of the place and the fact that his very ill mother was also there, which i thought was inappropriate

his response to this was ' its OK, i will lock her in the other room'
again i said NO, i am not working, to which he became sharp and began to talk down to me as if i was the one with the problem and in the wrong

after what seem like a lifetime the taxi arrived and i left ( phew )

all in all this was one of the worst experiences i have had modelling if not the worst

PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS I WOULD HATE ANYONE TO HAVE TO GO THROUGH THIS EXPERIENCE .....NOT NICE x

Bloody hell Sarah that is bad hun.

I can't believe that, and how this happened to you and the other references said nowt. Makes me wonder if the place was in that much of a state and he hasn't done nothing about it, whether he would actually have had the money to pay you?

I always say people living in there own shit can't tell theres anything wrong with the place as its their everyday environment, but like the scruffy kid we all knew at school, how could he not tell his house was a bomb site when they went to other kids houses.

You did right planning your getta away first before you told him you were going as you never know how these people were doing to react.

Glad your ok

You sure it didnt say "Bates Motel" outside?

Its hard to take a bloke like that seriously and one can only hazard a guess who it could be. I darent say the name but I fear his name is on the tip of my tongue...

Its not that bloke that does the psycho clown porn and the models in Nazi SS uniforms website that was taken down was it?

I think the clue is enough in what i said otherwise I'll be flouting BGAFD rules by naming psychos wrongly on this forum

Blimey Sarah, that was a right nightmare but you totally did the right thing by getting out and leaving.

Unfortunately you would have lost your fees for the shoot plus your travel expenses but your safety had to be the primary consideration.

I am not on Purestorm so don't know what they would allow but I would suggest copying and pasting what you have written on your post here onto this guys profile as a warning to other models.

Rather than worry about the "photographer" (however much of an idiot he is to treat our Sarah-Jane like that), should a report (even if anonymous) not be made to the authorities (police or social services) about the distressed state of the elderly female and the conditions in which she is apparently living?

It doesn't sound good to me and I'm sure nobody would want their mother to be living in those conditions....

LiquidGold makes a good point.

Thanks for the chat this morning Sarah. Given that all the hazards models endure in this business you should use the models forum on UKAP to warn each other of things like this.

Unfortunately, its not anyones place to police this business for model safety but there are some simple rules you can all follow to prevent these things from happening

!thumbsup! to BGAFD for leaving this post here too. I know the mods dont feel comfortable about these things posted on a forum that is essentially supposed to be fun and informative

UKAP are ok to name and invite to the forum to clear their name. Sometimes this is the best way of getting the word out that you will get exposed whether you are a performer or producer.

Why do you think I'm always on my best behaviour? !happy!

Sarah,

First it was saddening to read of this bad experience that will always be with you but while out of pocket instead of earning money glad that you got away without incident.

Second caring for someone with dementia is challenging when the person can have mood swings but to suggest that they would be have been locked away for the duration of the shoot is very disturbing.

As already posted I feel you have a duty to ( anonymously ) report what you found.

Stories like this are not exclusive to the girlies Sarah. Anyone who has been around a few years will have an interesting story or two that would make an eye opening scene for a bio pic
