Nottingham City Council is attempting to close all licensed adult premises in the city. Its web-site http://www.Nottinghamcity.gov.uk/sevconsultation details the policy they wish to pursue.
If they were to succeed then the consequences to the entire adult industry could be disastrous.
If you follow the link then click on the survey then complete the short questionnaire. It is anonymous, we would urge you to complete the survey as should their plan succeed then the whole industry will suffer.
Other councils could follow their lead! Our industry is regulated in so many ways and this is another attempt to erase all adult licensed premises?not just shops but all licensed clubs as well.
The deadline is February the 25th.
Nottingham Council want to ban adult premises.
Nottingham Council want to ban adult premises.
After many years in the adult sector I run a number of adult related businesses that encompass Crowdfunding, Content Sales, News Service and offer consultancy service for those looking to grow or enter this crazy industry.
Re: Nottingham Council want to ban adult premises.
The DVD's & their shops are fading fast due to the internet, BBFC fee's & silly amounts offered for producers units by the shops.
We stopped years ago selling films in shops as it was bad business with BBFC fee's & government taxes on shops the film maker was bottom of the food chain getting a small fraction for their units.
Without sounding callous the industry will carry on as normal without the shops & sex clubs, would these guys fight our battle against ATVOD...no not in a million years. They were separated from the main core of the industry ages ago & like Block Busters have had their day.

Its still a shame. The council should be trying to HELP businesses, not put yet more obstacles to trade in the way. How will Mr.Osborne ever try and chip away at the deficit if ruddy councils want to close taxpaying businesses.

Re: Nottingham Council want to ban adult premises.
I think everyone should sign up because, left uncontested its another form of control telling adults you cant go here or have this or that.
Fuck that!
I have no idea what prompted this but its better to have establishments for adults than not.
Kim, the reason ATVOD got as far as it did was due to the apathy towards the R18Online.
I always said they would be back and even if ATVOD was quashed, theyd be back like Terminator for more.
Signing that petition is you supporting the rights for adults to have establishments where they can meet. not restrict them. We shouldnt expect those people to defend us against ATVOD, for the most part, normal folk still have no idea what the hell that is and even mores to the point, even when i made that recording of Pete Johnson talking about their intentions most people took it like they did the R18 online and allowed it to get as far as they did because they were smart to include all video media online and thats where porn came in
This fractured adult business really should start banding together and defending its rights, if not for each other but foe the basic civil rights of not having the government control how and where you enjoy yourself.
Everyone!!!! Just sign the petition!!!!

Re: Nottingham Council want to ban adult premises.
This "they wouldnt fight for us" stuff is not a good excuse. Most people dont get involved with things they know nothing about.
Have we ever gone to anyone for support? Not to my knowledge. In fact it seems that most producers reaction to the seriousness of this was to go low profile and act like you don't exist which is laughable, because your site is out there butt naked balls swinging in the wind for the public, how do you feel you can hide?
The truth of it is, the adult industry deserves whatever is thrown at it if it continually allows it to go uncontested. So what if the sex shops have not been good to us, the point is you are allowing this to infringe on your rights by closing down yet another avenue that wasnt causing any harm until some spoilsport do gooder on some committee decided to make a holy name for themselves by making an agenda out of it.
The thing about these things is they can be opposed, and yes sometimes it costs money if you get a good lawyer behind you to fight your cause. this whole thing is a game and like most games you have to make up your mind if you are playing it and whether you want to win or lose.
You can take it lying down but this problems always comes back as Lowerloft has said, the country is looking at Nottingham and if it works they will work it into their agendas and limit your options in life even more
Today its some club, tomorrow its AdultWork. How would you feel about it then?

Yes Flirtz is a bad place. The girls don't even like working there! It's crap as well. Most people in this area go to Derby which has two good clubs or Leicester.

Re: Nottingham Council want to ban adult premises.
Lots of councils have different polices around the country depending on their political parties etc, in Blackpool you have lots of licensed Swingers hotels, clubs etc but down South in Essex & Kent its not allowed & the sex shops only get in by the skin of their teeth...same country but totally different rules.

Where will they go if Derby and Leicester councils also adopt a nil policy?
Any answer?
Coventry has recently introduced a nil policy has it not?
Your attitude seems a bit pathetic. You don't like Flirtz, so you want to stand by and see all sex entertainment venues closed.
