After many years in the adult sector I run a number of adult related businesses that encompass Crowdfunding, Content Sales, News Service and offer consultancy service for those looking to grow or enter this crazy industry.
Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
I refer to this section:
"3. Patient to give consent to AITA to communicate with clinic and pass on their details to Producers they specifically name.
4. Patient to provide list of Producers and Production Companies they have worked with within the last 30 days, 60 days and 90 days.
5. AITA to contact Producers worked with in the last 30 days. Producers to contact anyone who has worked with Patient in that period and pass list of Contacts to AITA with any other relevant information.
6. If PCR re-test comes back positive then an industry wide shut down is called for a minimum of 30 days and until all Contacts have been tested and any second and third tier Contacts tested."
What performer in their right mind having been diagnosed with HIV, would want his or her name bandied around to a bunch of porn producers, a group not renown for their discretion?
This kind of information should be kept within the confines of the patient and their health care professional. Together they would contact any performers that the patient had worked with in the past.
I have been in this industry for 15 over years and work both here and abroad. I do not believe the average porn producer is responsible enough or probably willing, to be entrusted with such sensitive information on a person. I believe before you know it, some would have organised a witch hunt. An infected performer would now not only have to deal with the trauma of having contracted HIV, but the added horror of a bunch of producers baying for their blood!
The whole idea is well meaning, but profoundly insane !nuts!
As I have made clear many times, a more useful protocol would be one that standardised and embossed all testing certificates and made dodgy certs a thing of the past.
PS My views is already known to AITA/UKAP

Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
Perhaps a contructive and more practicalidea, is for performers to swap details on each shoot so as to facilitate contact in the unfortunate event of one of them contracting an STD. This would indemnify and remove the producers out of the loop, which I am sure the majority would prefer. AITA could print a standard contact form and distribute it to producers to give to performers to use at their discretion.
But as I said before, ultimately, the decision to actually make contact must be discussed and decided between the patient and their health care professional.

I dunno Jim but I could name in a flash the person for the company you used to work for that leaked the name of the girl in the recent scare but that wouldnt be fair as I know you mean well
The model to my understanding wouldnt be revealed to "a bunch of producers" that is the whole point of the protocol. It will only be ringfenced to those who are directly involved.
I have to say a big thanks to AITA members Jerry Barnett and Jason Maskell for their handling of what could've been a pr disaster the first time round. I was none too impressed by the fact the girls name was leaked on the social networks and discussed so openly.

Yes. You'd think. And they did and guess what? That person in a position of responsibility told it to a bunch of producers (all non AITA/ UKAP by the way) and voila...Out there faster than Kate Middletons tits in a french gossip mag!
Clinic reps in contact with AITA were horrified by the way it was dealt with which is why AITA/UKAP got together to work this out there for producers to comment on it. Only a few responded, so here we are...I keep saying, ya gotta be in it to winnit if you want to voice your objections but left unnopposed, decisions will be made in your absence.

Yes Jim. I agree but that certainly didnt happen. AITA got involved when it was fast spiralling into a pr disaster that nearly involved Max Clifford and Dr Christian (he off Embarrassing Bodies) so it goes to show that left to its own devices, those involved were not mature or responsible enough to handle it the way it shouldve been . If it was there would be no need to have a protocol like this put in place.
AITA realised there was a problem, producers had to get involved because the talent pool were divided between wanting to work and wanting a full shut down, again a decision that involves producers being kept in the loop.
If you knew what really went on you wuld understand why producers are heavily involved...You only need to look at Mr Marcus over the pond faking his certs with the syphillis scare to realise the buck stops with producers the decision for testing standards is in the realm of the models to make but the decision to cease shooting is the producers because you know full well that as long as producers exploit a lock down models will happily still work and use it as an excuse to charge more money.
I know for a fact this happens both here and in Europe.
I really hate when you come up on here and chastise people trying to do good when you could be part of that decision making process. It seems you prefer to rant and rail on about it than oppose it when given the chance which is a shame because you and other producers like yourself could be instrumental in bringing about much needed change to this business.
Instead you prefer to come up on a public forum and trash the efforts of those where you yourself make no effort but grandstand by taking the moral high ground.
Please refrain from getting in the way of progress. All you are doing here is fuelling critics opinions and hampering progress.
Please mark this down as an example of why things are not done as effectively as they should be

Jim Slip
PS My views is already known to AITA/UKAP
I've never seen you at an AITA meeting and never before have we addressed a doomsday scenario of a false positive. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone who is a member of AITA or UKAP....I am a member of both and attended most meetings in the last 2 years.
Please feel free anyone to prove me wrong and I would happily apologise to Jim on this forum

I totally agree and do believe you made this opinion known in the past but then you know full well why it will never happen in the UK because you also opposed the plans in place to make it happen as to get that there was a little caveat called the data protection laws in making that happen.
Lets face it, if any producers and models really and I mean REALLY wanted change, they couldve made it when we had the chance to do it together but as per usual it didnt serve everyones best interests....
Everyone said yes so why didnt it happen??? The answers are out there

Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
Terry
Jim did reply to the draft protocols and emailed in the above. The point of a stamp etc has been tried before with BAIHA but this was limited to one chain of clinics. It would be great to have all UK health clinic supplied with an official health stamp to help block fake certs. The main problem is who will pay for them. AITA & UKAP cannot get enough producers and performers to join and pay memberships.
The whole UK industry needs to step up and put their money where their mouth is and back AITA/ UKAP on this and pay memberships so this protocols can be put in place and the other area'a such as stamps, 14 day testing, connecting with current health charities and cert database's can be looked in to in more depth.
Let's see what feedback we get from the performers and if there is enough interest to have the next stage meeting so this can move forward.

Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
Fair enough but you alone are not AITA and I haven't heard Jim voice his opinion about the protocols with UKAP. What he says in private emails is not known to anyone. Im just saying he chooses to criticise publicly without even using the option to comment at the stage where it counted.
Its not as if he didnt have time to comment on now was it?
As I see it, the 14 day testing and anything to do with health is really down to the models to support. Producers have shown they are willing to assist but ultimately this is all down to them as without their commitment it is all for nought anyway.

Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
Lets just say its there in place if we need it. Hopefully we'll never have another false HIV reading or a syphilis outbreak so if people dont want to use it because as Jim says it is insane then they dont need to use it
Just dont come bleating and moaning on here AITA or UKAP why nothing was in place to deal with it when some random infection is recurring in the business that threatens to put you all out of business for good is al I'm saying.
When people say what has these things ever done for me? Well you'll never kow what goes on behind the scenes that has shaped the business you've come to enjoy (or loathe as the case may be)
While those who dont know where sleeping AITA managed to avert a pr disaster that couldve go out of control. They didnt do it fo rme, or you they did it because it wouldve brought unnecessary attention to a business which is mostly self regulated and brought in people that are already looking to further their own agendas
Think extreme porn bill
Think ATVOD
Think the R18 Online classiciation
Think sex shop license (fees have gone down. Thanks AITA)
Health protocol (better to be in place than not)
Standardised testing (failed due to sabotage and flaky support)
Think putting a respectable face on this business ultimately helps your business in gaining acceptance and stop us from all being persectuted
Think insurances
Think!

Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
Jimslip I seriously wonder about your understanding of the word "indemnity".
Having commented to AITA on these protocols, and as a recognised expert in matters concerning legal liabilites, I broadly support what AITA have put on the table.
OEJ's post is a real wake up call to those in the industry who care to take themselves seriously.

Re: AITA/UKAP draft health protocols released
Did the insurance company AITA had talks with give their reassurance it wouldn't affect other future policies with different companies, this would be needed in writing so it could be used later with an insurance ombudsman if they proved to be yet another in the long list of untruthful insurance firms.
Having had to change policies due to penalization from our old company because of the job we do we & others are unsure on how to protect ourselves from future unfair policy increases once peoples info is in the data banks?insurance for the industry will only work if done right.
