Several brands of recievers have common interface slots which you can insert a cam for any type of encryption into. I have a Humax CI5100 which has two CI slots. I have a seca cam in one slot and a magic cam in the other. The magic cam mimics all the main encryption types avoiding the need to buy a cam for each encryption eg Irdeto, Viacess, Seca/Mediaguard, Betacrypt, Conax etc. I have an Irdeto Spice card working in the magic cam and sometimes use a gold wafer card to view movies and sport encrypted in Seca on Dutch Canal Plus channels.

Theres a usefull forum at frequented by some real tech-heads who know more than me.

But I should add that magic cams can sometimes be unreliable (although I have never had problems) with certain receivers so you might be better using original cams. If you get a receiver with twin CI slots you could have an Irdeto cam in one slot and another type in the spare slot eg Viacess.

Magoo is spot on, I bought a HUMAX 5300 receiver from a retailer called MYERSAT, it cost me ?209 and it already has an inbuilt VIACESS 2 CAM, it also has 2 Common Interface slots where you can put a stand alone CAM for other encrypted formats such as IRDETO, SECA etc or you can but a magic CAM such as Magoo's which basically mimics all the other CAMS put together with software downloaded from the Internet (freely available on www.Satellites.co.uk).

Best bet is to visit that website or buy What Satellite magazine which has a list of retailers. The best prices I could find where at Myersat whose website address is www.myersat.com.

I bought an 85 cm dish and put a monoblock LNB (?50) on it to give me Hotbird/Astra 1 and a single lnb (free with receiver) to pick up Sky all on the same dish, all in all just over ?400 to have it professionally installedand well worth it as I have a sex view card which has 6 new movies a day, (Avoid Ultra Blue as it's crap, and don't believe the hype about SCT as it's crap also)

A friend of mine (about 6 months ago) had a really cool set up where had access to approx 10 XXX Channels all via an auto updating card that he used to connect to his PC to update. I have been reliably informed that these channels are not the ?100-?150 Ultra, Spice, Sex View and the like but rather channels like TV1000 and Canal+ some which broadcast hard and latest releases....are these still available....or am I wrong and was he hacking into the premuim broadcasts ?

Are there any good XXX porn on Hotbird other than the Ultra, Spice, Sex View broadcasts etc that would influence my decision to buy a receiver with IDERTO embedded as opposed to VIACESS ?

The general consensus in here is that I should opt for Spice Platinum, hence the embedded IDERTO.

This is driving me insane !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Interesting how JP completely ignored me and my posts which were aimed at helping him. Thankfully MH stepped in to perform what I call "nut-hatch duty" and therefor released me from having to explain things over and over again to a nutmeg like JP.
