Wait a minute....

Maybe when she started doing porn she had absolutely no plan and no inclination of an orthodox career.

Should people really be judged on their past - particularly when that "thing" in their past was lawful?

If she was still doing it, then maybe there would be an issue, but each case would be different depending on the circumstances.

And why the FUCK would it make a difference if the chosen career was working with kids!?

Jeez... you say you want a job promoting porn but you cannot make thedistinction between lawful, consensual adult porn and child porn.

Just because a person engages in consensual sex on camera - with other adults - doesn't make them a risk with kids.

Pal! If I were considering giving you a job promoting my lawful, adult porn - you'd be struck off the the shortlist right away with an attitude like that.

You can say that, yes, she should have known the implications, but...
1. are those implications justified? and
2. should she have known? Should she have considered where her future may take her?

The answer to 2 is NO... none of us ever know where our future might take us and if we went around thinking like that we'd never fucking do ANYTHING.

I am sorry to hear this.

What reason was given for your dismissal? Is it a firm that has checked out its legal position carefully or is it firm which has not?

If it has not checked its legal position there is the possibility of compensation for wrongful dismissal, however you would never be able to go back and work there again.

Did you have a contract, is there anything in there that gives them grounds for dismissal?

This bit, as far as I interpret it, suggests that "kiddies" are at risk around someone who has engaged in the porn biz:

"I agree that unless you were in a profession where it's unacceptable (Working with kiddies, etc.) then I'd head straight for a tribunal."

Just because someone has engaged in sex on camera with other adults does notmean that they're going to surround the "kiddies" with and avail them of tales and images from their porn career... why should they be any more "unacceptable" than Mr or Mrs X who can't get enough porn as a viewer or spend their free time engaging in swinging etc?

I'm sorry - but as I read it, you're suggesting by "unacceptable"that they are a risk around children.

To me, your views are very off-kilter and not the views of someone capable of portraying the indutry or the product in a good light; on the contrary, you're saying there is something very unacceptable about the industry and the people in it.

Maybe you will be saying next that all parents in the porn industry should have their kids placed in care - because that also follows rather naturally from your earlier suggestion.

Hi Josephine

Like Zorro has said, if you have a contract of employment just read through it and it will state what you can and can't do. It may be something with bringing the company name in to disrepute but I would need to see the contract.

My understanding as a former employer is that it is illegal not to give employees a contract of employment.

firstly I havnt done any porn for two years now,I just work for sport tv of which i had cancelled future shifts as i had got this job,
I do not work with kids I work with animals. I was sacked because they felt that I would bring their company name in disrepute because of what i had done so yes I am looking into legally although it wont get my job back and they say they have sought legal advice but as i was only just working there 6 weeks then they can do what they like.
