Is there anyway of detecting if spyware has been put on to yur computer and can you then manually delete it yourself ??

The new free version of Adaware from Lavasoft is supposedly set for release tomorrow.Personally, I am going to let it gestate a few days in case of bugs. Meanwhile I have been using another freeware utility, Spybot, & really like it; very easy to update also.

Spybot seems better then AdAware as it finds more "strange" items. AdAware deletes the dubious things, keeping a backup, while Spybot quaratines them (effectively the same). Both can do it automatically or you can choose which to select - useful if you are running some programs (eg KaZaa) which will not function with the spyware removed.

Get Kazaa lite.
No spyware or pop ups, kind on your hands etc!

Just ran Spybot fixed 5117 items...

Compared to adaware from which fixed 100 items first time i ran it

I just got it from here after reading this thread - found about 180 on my machine, and I've always thought I was pretty careful on the web!

Is that a zipped file at PC World??? I found an .exe somewhere & reckon I can find it again if anyone needs it....
