Proposed new legislation problem for porn shoots?

Post by eunichorn »

Has anybody heard or read anything about how the new proposed legislation to make prostitution illegal might affect the British porn industry? It's a frightening thought but if the new law goes through it will make paying for sex an offense; isn't there a danger that this will also apply to porn producers when they hire performers?

There's a group of sex workers lobbying to prevent such legislation being passed. Although the stated aim of the initiative is perfectly reasonable i.e. to stamp out people trafficking and sex slavery, in practice it may actually put prostitutes in danger by forcing them out of flats and onto the streets. Then there is the infringements on personal freedom etc. Is there anyone from this branch of the sex industry also campaigning?

Well, you could get away with it by stating that you are paying the model for time not sex. Anything that happens in this time... well, just happens!

The question that you did not ask: is adult modelling involving sex 'prostitution' or 'modelling that just happens to involve sex'?

There was a case like this in the States back in (I think) the 90s...they were shutting down and putting people in jail; it all got sorted, think they ended up saying that they were booking "actresses" and whatever the "actress" wanted to do on camera was up to them...even Ron Jeremy got put in jail every time he got caught and had to go to court for it for hiring people before it was sorted!

I doubt it will happen over here; although England is a bit backward with some things lol.

Terry at One eyed jack (the most-on-the-ball chap in the industry) talked to Jonathan about this me thinks.

Storm in tea cup.

HM Government should really be concentrating on other issues!

Prostitution in brothels is fully legal in most (if not all) Australian states. Safer, cleaner, better for the girls and the punters. Why don't people realise that banning things only takes them underground!
