4WIW I have a rule about 'classic' [and other !] "anals". If all you see is
ECU footage then it's faked. And even if you can see an insertion-shot or
similar, don't assume- witness Marilyn Jess.

Hard to tell whether some of the vintage porn stars (like Seka) ever took it up the ass. Only when the camera (and that was rather uncommon) really showed the whole body could you really confirm such a thing.

scene-breakdowns and of course were never released on DVD- it seems that
if there was an "anal" in the title, then a few of the actresses got listed for
'anal', with no substantiation whatever.
As to the Euro 'classic' era- I find it instructive that the wonderful Jennifer
Haussmann did masses of anal, shot from every conceivable distance/angle
[within the above limitations]. So, it was perfectly possible back then to shoot
a relatively explicit anal scene. Why, then, the apparent coyness with other,
less 'anal-friendly', girls? The answer seems obvious.

Since I really don't know the origin of the information that has crept into the IAFD database for a number of titles, it is difficult to make any valued judgment as to what is accurate and what is not.
There are a number of titles in which a lot of anal activity is evident, but none is recorded. There are scenes in which the facials are obviously faked, and yet you see the notation "facial".
As for the "anal" notation, the more you go into the far past and the more difficult it becomes to give that much credence to that notation.
Unfortunately there were hardly any magazines that covered the US porn scene prior to the early 1980's (aside from Adam Film World). Even in their reviews a lot of these magazines were not accurate as to the general description of the scenes or sex activity. There were actresses that you could rely on providing the real goods (Crystal Dawn, Vanessa Del Rio, Connie Peterson, Serena, and a handful of others), but the rest just basically faked it with the help of the filmmakers. A top porn star could hardly be counted on getting their hands dirty doing that nasty thing. It was below their "standards".
Take for instance RETURN OF THE A-TEAM (1988,Western Visuals). IAFD indicates a DP for Nina Hartley, yet it is an evident fake.
Nina did not perform DPs until two decades later. The movie was directed by Patti Rhodes (wife of recently deceased FJ Lincoln) and produced by at the time well-regarded Western Visuals. So why did Nina, Patty and Western Visuals needed to fake this? And if you wanted to produce/release a movie with "A-TEAM" words in it, you think you would include (some? or maybe just one?) anal scenes? This was supposedly a sequel to the very successful release of THE GIRLS OF THE A-TEAM (1985) in which half of the female performers did anal! Even the infamous Traci Lords faked a double vaginal in GRAFENBERG SPOT (1985) (she was doubled by Ginger Lynn), yet IAFD still records it as a DPP!
Unfortunately I missed out on a lot of the French porn movies produced from the mid 1970's to the early 1980's. Ricaud and Laura/VMD at least started to deliver the goods in the early 1980's.
