Never tried it, athough people rave (actually quite rabid) about every bloody forum/discussion group you go to.
Are you talking about the practicality of playing DVD's/videos (avi, etc), or for making screencaps? I am more interested in the latter.

For making screencaps. I may use other media players to view videos but I resort to VLC when it comes to caps.
