I saw this one in a cinema in Hagen or Munchen Gladbach in the late '80's.

The basic storyline revolves around a mother taking her daughters place at school.

Any one know it?

That sounds like "Das Sexabitur".
However, there is also a sequel, called "In Sex die Note 1", in which the girl's place is taken by a friend instead.
