European HIV

Reading the British Girls Forum it is clear that there is much concern about a recent spate of HIV infection amongst actors/actressses in the adult industry in the USA. I never seem to hear anything about this serious matter in the industry on the European mainland. Is this because it has been avoided, either by good management or good fortune? Is it because it is swept under the carpet? Or is it because of the relative anonymity of people appearing in European productions.

and you have given the answers ( there is not only one)
it is a mix of all aspects you have mentioned ..
to my mind - more swept under the carpet & relative anonymity.

i remember now only two cases:

one German prostitute who made several photo shootings for Color Climax
but i could never really identify her.

and the case Moana Pozzi:

officially liver cancer .. but all was very mysterious
she had in one of her USA movies unsaved intercourse with an USamerican transsexual Morelle DeKeigh who died later of aids.

it would be interesting who knows more about European HIV-Porn-situation
but i believe he must be an insider.

i am being very sceptical ...
what David said about relative anonymity of many European actors etc.
in the 80?s ( in contrary to the USA and espec. the gay community there)could be the reason we will never exactly experience the truth.

fact is indeed except Moana Pozzi ( the case is open for me)
none of the well known actresses/actors seems
to have been died of AIDS ...
and that is amazing when i remember
how often the "french gang" of actors ( Armand, Mazars, Clark etc.)
was banging transsexuals in the 80?s without condoms etc.

and do not forget: D. James is the most tested porn actor of western hemisphere. there is ever a gap.

Although I share your sceptisim AP, I certainly hope Herschi is right. If he is it means the Europeans have controlled a problem successfully, which the Americans have utterly failed to do. That said, with the increasing occurrance of hiv infection in those parts of Eastern Europe where many porn actors/actresses come from, it will reqiure great vigilance to ensure that that situation remains the case. We all want to see hardcore, but I have no wish to see young people risking their lives to produce it.

Of course there were (are ?) certainly AIDS infected performers in the European porn community !
How could it have been (be ?) different ?
In Europe like anywhere in the world, initially nobody knew anything about this disease, then everybody knew it was for sure some kind of gay cancer and that nothing could happen to you if you were straight and did not do men and transexuals, then because...
How come we never have heard of anything ? Maybe because it was (is ?) only a community or rather a patchwork of communities and not an organized industry like in the USA. We don't have no Luke Fords here, no performers organization...
I personally have seen in the late 80's a curious French film that was a mix between a documentary and a harcore movie. Actors were interviewed between X rated scenes. I remember very well Alain Lyle been asked about the threat of AIDS. He answered something like "en ce moment, c'est le top 50, on se demande qui va ?tre le prochain au hit parade" ("right now, it's like top of the pops, one wonder who's going to be the next to win"). A lot of performers of this era have disappeared. I hope they are just happy retired people...
