Strand films?

Post by Advocate »

Hello all: does anyone know where I might order or obtain NTSC-format films by Strand (particularly featuring Josephine), other than through Dr. Blues? I have ordered from them before and it took forever to receive the films (I live in the U.S.) plus they screwed up my order. I tried to register with bgafd and post this message there but it kept saying my e-mail address was already in use, so I assume it is okay to post this in egafd. If anyone has NTSC Strand films, please let me know. Many thanks!!

These are only available from http://www.dr-bluessexshop.com as for how long it takes for the order to arrive I suggest you take that up with the postal and customs authority, we deal with every order on the day we get it.
At the moment we do not have the titles available in NTSC nor do we have any plans to do this. We would ideally like to have a US distributor but the experiences we have to date with regard to getting them to pay outstanding monies leaves us wondering if it's worth it.
Sorry to be negative but we do sell a lot of DVDs to the states and have only had one complaint that it would not play on the system. We do make all DVDs region free and they should play on modern equipment. Please try another order and see what happens, we do still give a free one when three or more are ordered.

Actually, despite several pleas I never received the free film when I ordered three, and also I didn't get one of the films I originally ordered. Moreover, the fact that a DVD is region-free has nothing to do with the PAL/NTSC issue, so I question how all those supposed sales to the US have been trouble-free, unless their DVD players have a built-in converter. Matter of fact, my Apex supposedly has such a converter, but I'm not about to risk money on it, particularly since your rates are quite expensive. I intend to look around to get the movies from a private seller, your assurances notwithstanding.
