Next Week the "Filmclub 813" in Cologne/Germany starts a Series of German Erotic Movies, "Wir raten ab!" (We say don?t see it! a classic last sentence of Teutonic Film Mag "Katholischer Filmdienst" in the 5os-70s).
It starts next Wednesday the 7th with "Die Jungfrauen von Bumshausen" by Billian, on 14th "Lass jucken Kumpel" by Franz Marischka, on 21th "Liebesgr??e aus der Lederhose 2", also by Marischka, and all on the big Screen (in the former Building of the British Council, the Culture Institute, isnt that fanny? The Movies are big Fun too.
So if you want to see some real amazing Erotic Kraut Art, move your Ass in a plane and join that Festival. Maybe the last Chance to see that Films on a Screen coming from Celloloid!

Re: Hans Billian on Sexfilm-Festival!
Isn't the exact meaning of "Wir raten ab", "We discourage." (no exclamation mark, making the expression as dry as a dust).
I've gotten great joy and a lot of useful info out of "Katholischer Filmdienst" (these books could sometimes be found for 10-20 cents in bargain boxes at 2nd hand bookshops etc), especially the issues covering the 60s and 70s, where every "Wir raten ab" meant that this particaular film probably would be worth checking out. And they wrote about EVERY single German film - real troopers!

Re: "Wir raten ab"
@ mulholland
you are anyway right:
"wir raten ab" = we dissuade from ... visiting or viewing ...
but the editors of KFD wanted to discourage especially catholics to view such reviewed movies.
but the encyclopedic work of KFD was tremendous & is indispensable for studying German movies and edited movies in Germany the last 40 / 50 years ( basic for " Internationales Lexikon des Films").
KFD still exists today - more liberal - as "filmdienst"

Re: "Wir raten ab"
Of course it is important for studying German Movies; the Tragedy of it is that the "Wir raten ab"-Paradigma with that hypermoralic Look was taken over into the Lexikon, although it was published at first by Rowohlt in Hamburg, a kind of "3rd Army of Moscow", as the Germans say, with a red and liberal image.
They reprinted that old "Wir raten ab"-Critics, declaring a 5- seconds-scene of a naked shoulder as Pornography, although it was against Rowohlts Ideology, in 1995!!! But checking and renewing the texts would have cost mones of course, the Hamburg?s Reds operated like real Capitalists, and so many parts of the "Internationales Lexikon des Films" cant be taken serious, and it has no Pictures, like the Yearbooks following since 95.
Do you think KFD is more liberal than the protestant "filmdienst"? I think it is all theb same dry uninspired Bullshit.

Re: "Wir raten ab"
a little bit off topic our discussion now ...
but i assume a misunderstanding:
film-dienst (look the url) is the successor of KFD ...
and compared with old KFD film-dienst is more liberal in its reviews ...
time goes by ...
where no other sources existing such limited sources must be used.
and this incriminated reprint is a historical document itself ...
with all its ideological judgments & prejudices ...
that is the sense of reprints ..

Re: "Wir raten ab"
Of course the "film-dienst" of today is more liberal, and the old ones are historical documents, thats for sure.
Its just a pain thinking that the Brits, Yanks and French have not only better Periodicals for usual Cinema, they had also special Mags for B- and Erotic Films like "Stars System", "Midi-Minuit" etc.
And "Stars System" wrote about German Sex Cinema too.
