PC Fonts

Post by randyandy »

Hope you can read this :(

I've done an automatic windows update (not by choice) and it has fucked up my fonts with sites, especially ones like this, now being very hard to read.

Does any of the resident pc experts know how to fix it please?

I've tried uninstalling the update but microsoft wont give the uninstall option for some and system restore (my usual get out of jail option isn't working either).

I've looked online and it seems I am not just the one effected but haven't been able to find a fix, especially for a computer numpty like me who basically switches it on and it works.

Tried all that and that is what is baffling me.

The font listed by firefox as being used isn't the one being typed in and it is blurry on most pages.

Think it is something related to a service pack update but I can't uninstall it although I can do bits of it, like for example a security update for word.

I know it works on the recipients end but for me typing it's blurred and not in the font that firefox is set at. (century)

It's also affecting every programme facebook, twitter, here etc.

You haven't stated which Windows version you are using and if you have not run updates for some time.

This was posted last August

while

This is very recent.

From what I've read, it is an issue with update KB3013455, affecting Vista and other older systems.

It seems a security update, to move certain things dealing with fonts into the core part of the operating system to circumvent dodgy websites doing some nasty stuff.

Anyway, it should be possible to uninstall that particular update (you would also need to reboot), until MS has fixed the issue.

Cheers sparky and beutelwolf

The issue is that bad that I can barely read your replies sorry.

Sparky I think you're asking what the system is I am on vista.

Beutelwolf sorry but I can't read the number you've listed properly.

I've tried to delete most of those which were on the date the update was on but there are some which won't give the uninstall option.
