you could though argue that the fact she has a 'council estate' background only makes her gaffe even worse, as this incident clearly shows how out of touch with her roots she actually is. And that now she's a well-heeled member of the Islington dinner party set and has been caught sneering down at White Van Man, it's clear that she's forgotten where she came from.

If she'd been a Tory it would have been less of a surprise, because at least you kind of expect this kind of stuff from them. but not from a senior figure in a party that was originally founded as and still likes to pretend that it's the party of the 'working class'.

You are correct about her university.

I am not defending Thornberry as my first post on this thread makes that very clear.

I am merely suggesting in my reply to Argie that "she cannot engage with anyone earning under ?150K" is an exaggeration.
