"What a lot of rot you do talk."
Steady on, old bean.
"The legal profession doesn't have charitable tax exemption status"
Did I say they did? I can perhaps do without the explanation frankly, given it was me that had to explain to you that aid agencies as well as charities have "charitable" status.
"Nor do most lawyers (in my experience) claim they are caring"
Did I say they did? They maintain a caring stance as part of their overall good service objective, in support of extracting as much dosh as possible from their customers.
Why charities are a con...

Argie/Essex Lad
"I support nothing outside my own city and will continue to do so."
Yeah, I used to do that, but then I got let down when I found out the manager of the local charity was spending it all on trips to the Caribbean.
And then I started paying into the charity organised by the bloke down the road who said he had multiple sclerosis. And then, one day, I saw him performing in the local gymnastics team.
Now I just spend it on myself. Charity begins at home. Must remember to get a quote for a new boiler. Do you reckon I will be able to get charitable tax exemption status?

And yet again, another sarcastic, sneering post from Blackpool's answer to George Orwell... sorry Charlie Cairoli.

Both the right and left have tried to claim George Orwell.......a sign of an independent mind who spoke common sense. David, on the other hand, is quite the reverse. How you've managed to mention them in the same breath, I'll never know.
Have a word with yourself.

Sarcasm, Sam, pure and simple sarcasm... hence the reference to a clown.

Essex Lad/Sam Slater
Now, now lads. Some people just do not have a sense of humour.
I don't think it was too long ago that Sam was referring to one of your remarks, Essex Lad as childish and ignorant.
This one to be precise "Aspergers is no excuse. Susan Boyle has it ? don't see much of her involvement in terrorism..."
I could refer to your comment Essex Lad as "Sarcasm, Sam, pure and simple sarcasm... hence the reference to a clown."
but I do not want to drag myself down to that level. Hence I prefer a bit of innocent role play.
Have a nice evening, gentlemen.

David, your humour always comes like Douglas Carswell's mouth with a sneer.

I disagree. Like a lot of people, you only appear to see faults such as sarcasm in other people, never yourself.
Sam Slater calls your comment childish and ignorant. No response from Essex Lad. Your comment about Susan Boyle is clearly silly. If I could be bothered I could describe it as "sarcastic". No response from Essex Lad.
No problem though for you to accuse others of sarcasm. Maybe you should look at yourself first?

Re: Essex Lad/Sam Slater
I would be the first to say I am sarcastic. But so many of your responses when someone disagrees with you come across as sneering...

Ah yes, "sneering".
Well, describing brave nurses like Will Pooley who is helping to fight Ebola and other charity front line workers risking their lives in West Africa as "drones" is disgustingly sneering. As is your post with the subject "why charities are a con"
No reply to my criticism at the time from Essex Lad. If I could be bothered, I could pick out many, many more examples.
Like I said, maybe a good idea to start looking at your own behaviour first?
