Language Lesson for Cameron n May

Post by David Johnson »

What's the difference between making a "pledge" to reduce immigration to the tens of thousands a year (Cameron) and making a "comment" to reduce migration to below a hundred thousand a year (Theresa May's interpretation)?

No difference, when you realise you are finally going to have to admit you have fuck all chance of making it come true.

What's the difference between promising in Prime Minister's Questions that there will be a vote on the European Arrest warrant before the Rochester by-election and not having a vote on it.

It's called a fucking lie.

Any guesses as to how many percentage points UKIP will beat the Tories by in the Rochester by-election?

It's number 271 on UKIP's list of winnable seats apparently.

Maybe Cameron needs advice from Ed Miliband...........

Probably the same as Gordon Brown's old rhetoric about "Labour investment" and "Tory cuts" ? whoever won would have had to make cuts...

Not the same at all. You can have investment and cuts at the same time anyway. Everyone knew at the time they made the "pledge" that reducing immigration to the tens of thoiusands was totally unachievable and it has taken them 4 years to actually admit that.

Members of all parties have said that in a long career in the House of Commons they have never experienced a situation where the PRime Miinister promises one week to have a vote on something like the European Arrest Warrant and then next week refuses.
