Yep Flacs are not supported by Apple without extra software. I just use a program called All2MP3 to convert.

Music is always on if I'm working from home but just let iTunes play through the Mac's speakers. I find headphones at home too restrictive.

Glad to hear it Mick. Where did you listen to the music? Was it the punk festival? That always goes down a storm.

Which is why I went to the trouble of pointing people away from iTunes and gave a good alternative player.......in fact a better player that starts faster and uses less system resources than iTunes.

It is also why, for phone use, I still recommend 256vbr or 320kbps .mp3s for mobile phone use (with decent headphones). Then, if you have an iPhone and forced to use Apple software/hardware for transfer/playback you can.

Well it depends how much people want to immerse themselves in the music. Personally, I like to listen to my favourites through headphones and close my eyes so I am immersed in the music without any distractions. The music is in my head and at a high quality.

If you are working, I would agree with you they are a bit of a distraction and basically you just want some background music.
