Re: ASSAD
Anyone remember when the Soviet Union rolled into Afghanistan to try and stamp out militant Islamists on their borders... and on the basis of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" America armed the Taliban and what later became the Al Queda?

Good point. It was Cameron's plan to provide military aid to the Syrian rebels which would more than likely have fallen into ISIS's hands by now. And ISIS are already very well armed as a result of Iraqi forces running away on the outskirts of Mosul. They took over all the sophisticated weaponry provided to the Iraqi army divisions concerned by the US and British.
Secondly, although I agree that ISIS need to be stopped, but by giving armaments to the Kurds, I wonder what the future implication is for Iraq. I suspect Cameron won't have considered it too much but giving arms to the Kurds seems to confirm that Iraq is no more and in effect is now three different countries, the Kurds, the Sunnis and the Shias, each with their own territory which they will govern themselves and which they will fight to defend.

It didn't actually. It armed the mujahideen, which despite what many believe are/were not the Taliban.
and what later became the Al Queda?

Arming the Kurds is like letting Jimmy Savile loose at a nursery. Bunch of war mongering peasants who cause trouble no matter where you put them. And ASSAD is still a twat. Bush and his VP aka Monsignor Moneybags Blair must be soooooo proud of their works. As for Millibland he will do as the Jewish lobby tell him. A Jewish PM would help radicalise thousands in this country never mind the sands of Arabia..

Re: ASSAD
Assad killed more of his own people in 3 years than were killed in the first 3 years of the Iraq war.
However good or bad ISIS is says nothing about how good/bad Assad's regime is.

Re: ASSAD
The Syrian government has been using chemical weapons against it's own people.
Both Assad and ISIS have been committing war crimes imho and there are no heros in any of this.
