Premier League predictions...

Post by Sam Slater »

Well, it's the start of the new Premier League season this weekend so thought I'd start a thread on it to get your predictions for the coming season. Man City and Liverpool are under pressure to have another brilliant season, Arsene has actually gone and spent some dough and the eye gouger has yet to prove he can win a league title without managing the team with the biggest wallet in the league........oh, and this Dutch bloke who looks like Butthead has taken over some mid-table team in Manchester.

So, who are your predictions for the top European places and who'll go down?

I'm going to be predictable and say Chelsea will win it. The eye gouger has had a season to work out what he needs and bought well. Costa is the white Drogba and I can see a carbon copy of the Chelsea of Mourinho's first 2 seasons in charge. He even has Torres as the new Shevchenko.

I still think Man City have the best squad overall, but their players don't have the mentality to win in twice on the spin.

My top 7:

1. Chelsea
2. Man City
3. Arsenal
4. Liverpool
5. Man Utd
6. Tottenham
7. Everton

My bottom 3:

18: Burnley
19: Southampton
20: West Brom

Please note: Southampton and Man Utd have a lot of money to spend between now and then end of the month. My predictions could change!

I'll go for ....

1 Chelsea
2 Man City
3 Arsenal
4 Cockney Scum aka Manure
5 Liverpool (blew their load last year)
6 Everton
7 Spurs (manager change by Christmas)

For the drop

18 Sunderland
19 Swansea
20 Newcastle

1 Chelsea
2 Man City
3 Man Utd
4 Arsenal
5 Everton
6 Liverpool
7 Spurs

17 Hull*
18 Aston Villa*
19 QPR
20 Burnley

* Think it will be very close between these two... one may survive over the other by goal difference alone.

I think many have forgotten that Man United have no European games whatsoever to distract them (just like Liverpool last year) and they have the easiest start to the season of any of the potential top 6/7 teams so really should get off to a good start in spite of still having major weaknesses all over the pitch.

Liverpool have done a Spurs... sold a major asset for a vast sum of money and replaced him with a lot of dross. Without Suarez, and with Champions League games added to their schedule, they will do well to manage to qualify for the Europa Cup

"But how to make Liverpool economically prosperous? If only there was some way for Liverpudlians to profit from going on and on about the past in a whiny voice."

1. Arsenal
2 Liverpool
3 Man City
4 Man Utd
5 Chelsea*
6 Tottenham
7 Everton

* More out of hope than expectation. I would laugh my socks off at all the moaning Mourinho would be doing.

18 Crystal Palace *
19 Swansea
20 Burnley

*Not on my original list but almost unbelievably, Crystal Palace owners have got into a situation in which Pulis has left by "mutual consent" after doing, arguably, a Manager of the Year job last season.

Yes, there is a bit of wishful thinking in my predictions.
