The Met is not fit for purpose

Post by Essex Lad »

Since its formation in 1829 the Met has patrolled the streets of the capital and parts of Essex/Kent/Herts but is it time for it to be split up into local more accountable forces?

In the last few years we have had the Met's failure to investigate wholesale criminality at News International because its senior staff were too close.

A Commissioner of the Met resigning because of his close links to NI.

Plebgate ? where police lied about a senior government minister.

Spy plane ? the Met has had a plane flying over London picking up data without any real reason apart from a fishing expedition.

Today, we learn that the families of 18 innocent murder victims including Stephen Lawrence and Jean Charles de Menezes were put under surveillance to try to dig up dirt.

A commander who relied on fear of senior brass being labelled racist to advance up the ranks despite being a crook.

And that's just off the top of my head...

Nowt new mate. The Met is (no pun intended) a law unto itself and hated by every other force in the UK.
