Must say that Costa Rica are one of the gutsiest teams I can ever recall seeing in the World Cup.

They were expected to be the whipping boys of their group, yet they beat Uruguay, Italy and then had a draw with England, having already qualified for the next round.

In the round of 16 they beat Greece even though for the last 60 minutes including extra time, they were down to 10 men. And then last night, Holland could not put them away until the penalty shoot-out.

All this from a country with a population of about 4 million with most of the team playing for sides the vast majority of UK fans would never have heard of.

Just goes to show how far you can go with great team spirit and an extremely well prepared and trained team courtesy of their manager.

Thanks for making English fans feel even worse! Problem with the England team is that they have not played that well as a team at the recent major football tournaments. Certain individuals have also played poorly compared to what they do with their club sides.

Wanted Costa Rica to win but the Dutch were better on the day.
