Now that David Beckham is not in top-flight sport you'll notice he always had to be part of everything going on. He was not competing in the 2012 Olympics but that didn't stop him being visually there, along with the actual participants. He helped get the games by lobbying for it with others, but should he have appeared in the pop video with the participating athletes two years ago? Seb Coe and other prominent people on the committee did not, but David Beckham had to. In the video for "Don't Stop Me Now", a cover of the song by Queen where many members of Team GB appear in light-hearted comical mode (air-guitaring and so on), Beckham had to be there too. He wasn't in the Games as a competitor, he still had to appear in the video though as his large ego had to be satisfied. Beckham appears at the start as a kind of mock-director and says "action!", and at the end he appears again and says "...and cut!".
Now were are in Brazil and it's 2014. David Beckham's not competing there either, but has to be there and be prominent. So we've had programmes on TV in the last two weeks hosted by Beckham all about football in Brazil and other issues to do with that country, prime time on British TV. Beckham and his ego, for the rest of his life we are going to see him trying to be associated with every big sporting event Britain participates in, and doing everything he can to ensure that his association with it gets as much coverage as possible. I've always quite liked David Beckham but his ego, and the implication from him that every sports event we participate in will somehow not be as enjoyable for our nation unless he is somehow associated with it, I find quite annoying. People's views on Beckham and his ego please.

Re: David Beckham has a huge ego...
Never has a man with so little talent or intelligence made so much money. Vainer than Liberace and looks like a chav drug dealer with all his tattoos. I was going to buy a Breitling watch as a treat 'til I saw His Ponciness in the brochure....and the youth of today, especially women think he is a living god and greater than Best, Cryuff, Ronaldo and Messi rolled into one.
Re: David Beckham has a huge ego...
Please, not another Beckham thread. Lets not give this man any more attention than he deserves. Can we just end it now...please.

Never even noticed Becks. Don't look out for him either. Who hasn't got an ego?
The harder you cum. The more you enjoy it.

Whether we want to see him or not he will always be there, featuring in things related to big sporting events that he's not even involved in - all in order to keep his profile high. Look out for more of him in the coming weeks with the World Cup, more of him in 2016 in the Euro's, and so on...

The video was made by Adidas who required Beckham to appear in it because he has a contract with Adidas to promote their brand.
As Beckham is their "global ambassador" Adidas were within their contractual rights to require his appearance in the video.

Rather odd that is was a video 'starring Team GB' then. Beckham wasn't part of Team GB. Perhaps Seb Coe, or Lord Coe as he's known, should have appeared in it too. They could have had him playing a tambourine and dancing about...
