Former Lib Dem Treasury spokesman, Lord Oakeshott has resigned from the Lib Dems saying " the party had lost its roots, principles and values.
Couldn't put it any better than that and the electorate has given its verdict. Hammering in the council elections, all but wiped out in the European elections and apparently heading for Westminster oblivion next year.
Clegg, Alexander and Laws and their fellow band of closet Tories, gave up Lib Dem core values to throw their lot in with the Tories who are diametrically opposed to the great majority of those values. And the inevitable result was that Lib Dems supported the Tories as they went about dismantling local democracy, the NHS and the public sector, generally.
No matter how much Clegg might blather on about taking low paid people out of the income tax band, it makes no difference if their overall living standards have nose-dived as a result of all the other cuts made by the government.
Clegg might limp on to the next election when hopefully the final coup de grace will be provided, but let the Lib Dems be a warning for all those parties who have never been in power, but end up throwing out all their values to get into the world of red Cabinet boxes and chauffeur driven limousines.
The electorate ain't going to forget no matter how many times the party leader says "I'm sorry, I'm so, so sorry" to all the students it has stabbed in the back
The End of Cleggie?

True,
But it isn't as if he hasn't been slagging off Clegg for over a year now. So his opposition to Cleggie hasn't just been found out based on this poll that he paid for secretly.

Did I say the Lib Dems are the only party that has ever let down their voters?
Mind, if the Labour party ever goes into coalition with the Tories or UKIP to get into power, I will put Labour in the same grouping as the Lib Dems in terms of treachery.

The tuition fees U-turn was probably Clegg's biggest single blunder. By doing that he essentially betrayed a whole generation of voters and they are now paying him back big time. personally I reckon that the Lib Dems will be lucky if they manage to hold onto half a dozen seats in 2015.

Well, I guess all political parties go back on their election promises at some time or other.
However, I cannot remember any party that threw out so many of their core values, policies and promises as the Lib Dems did to get into power with a party with completely different policies and core values.
The power of the visual image helps to keep the dishonesty in people's minds and I suspect many Lib Dem activists and voters will not forget the following pre-election image.

Re: The End of Cleggie?
If Clegg is still his party's leader come the next general election he will step down after the election due to a likely hammering by the electorate. If history teaches as anything, it is that for most politicians it is better to have been in power, than not been in power at all.
Makes me laugh when LD people say Vince Cable should take over. Baldies don't win elections in Britain. Remember Ming Campbell. They soon got rid of him. Can anyone name the last baldie who won an election? Anyone who wants to take over as from Clegg as LD leader is barmy.

I believe this has to be one better things any party has done for me, it is real in terms money in my pocket. And as for student fees I reckon he did right thing shame so much was made about his U turn rather than looking at what was actually happening!
