I have to agree here with Frank. For example, in Germany all crimes (except murder) become unprosecutable after 30 years, and that long time frame only applies for crimes warranting lifelong sentences. Germany even used to have such a cut-off for murder (of 40 years) but that was removed in the 1960s when the prospect of Nazi-murders becoming unprosecutable loomed large.
To me, it looks as if a system that unduly protected the rich & famous from the consequences of their crimes & misdemeanours now completely swings the other way, showing the zealotry of religious converts. It also makes me wonder whether that undue protection still continues as ever, i.e. for the truly rich & powerful, just sacrificing some minor celebs on the altar for the burn-the-witch crowd.
