Buying porn in the UK in the 80s/90s

Hello all,

First post from a long time lurker. I am trying to list the companies that sold hardcore porn on VHS in the UK during the 80s and 90s. I can remember YourChoice, which had offices in Amsterdam, but shipped within the UK, Tabor and I also recall a video tape swap mail order service where you would trade dupes of your tapes for new ones (an idea that was started by Mike Freeman's Videx, I believe). Can any of you remember any others or the name of the tape swap shop? Any help would be very much appreciated.

There were a number of swap shops in soho at the time, you would give them a fiver and your old tape in the 80s and this increased to a tenner in the 90s, they would play your tape first to make sure it was ok before they done the deal, this was of course illegal back then as hardcore had yet to be legalised in the uk.

ah yes, the bad old days of rip-off merchants in Soho and elsewhere, flogging crappy contact mags or tame softcore disguised in hardcore covers (usually Color Climax), and then shrink-wrapped to fool punters who would afterwards be too embarrassed or frightened to take it back to the shop and demand their money back.

Wiki says the distribution of porn was not made legal until 2002. So unless that info is incorrect the answer is none.
