The first is getting rid of the deadwood and the likes of Giggs and Rio who think they are unsackable.
And you know they think they're unsackable, how? Or are you wrong again? Given their contracts are up in the summer as well you seem to be talking out of your jaxie.
The third issue is strengthening the squad with genuinely superior players who will agree to take a punt on one or more seasons of non CL football. That will be extemely hard and stupidly expensive.
Liverpool got Suarez without CL football. Man City got half the squad they have now without CL football. Spurs have just spent ?100m on talent without CL football and Monaco bought one of the world's top strikers at the beginning of the season in Falcao, as well as a very sought after Columbian winger, James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho who lots of big clubs in Europe wanted in the summer.
Lots of players, when signing a 5 year deal, will look at the club's ambitions and like to see themselves as part of an exciting project where they'll play most weeks opposed to immediate success and playing a bit part role. It depends on the character of the player. Man Utd just bought Mata (Chelsea's best player over the last two seasons), when they were in 7th place and Chelsea were 2nd. He went for first team football. It happens.

Re: Man Utd
Back down to 7th and in line for a good slapping off Liverpool.......
Re: Man Utd
Relishing in Liverpools return as contenders, and in manures decline. Just loved the cheeky "Moyes is a football genius" banner at the game yesterday, did not love the "Murderers" chants from the mancs... They have no class

Yes, I imagine the truth must hurt! Still, it must be nice wallowing in self-pity whilst blaming all your ills on everyone else.
If any club lacks class, it's Liverpool for taking so long to make a (mealy-mouthed and frankly pathetic and underwhelming) apology to Juventus after killing some of their fans.

Not gonna get dragged into an argument Bob, LFC and Juventus supporters have a great relationship... We have never forgotten what happened at Heysel

Re: Man Utd
A slight stay of execution by beating the very mediocre Aston Villa...
