Agreed over the gun nuts. They're far worse. 'Twats' would be too polite a word for these morons. It was only the other day some guy in the US doing a gun safety lecture actually shot himself in the face and was killed. Complete fucking lunatics.

But, I wasn't asked to compare Piers over the gun nuts, just my opinion on the man.

what Piers Morgan does next...

Post by max_tranmere »

I was thinking he might end up with his own news show on Sky, but then he was never in with the Murdoch lot - unlike Kelvin "Hillsborough" McKenzie, who edited The Sun and because of that is often seen on Sky these days. No, I can see Piers Morgan with his own show on ITV, possibly in the daytime, doing current affairs/news-related stories, but with a tacky tabloidy-style approach.

Talking of Kelvin Mackenzie, I heard someone once use an analogy for what it is to be very scared. They used two in fact, referring to anyone in ordinary society who is in a situation they would rather not be in and are now terrified because they are:

"sweating like Kelvin Mackenzie at Anfield"
"trembling like Nick Griffin at the Notting Hill Carnival"

Hehe!

As ITV did a few years back when they hired Jerry Springer to host chat shows.

Max, don't be taken in. Those shows are as pre-planned just as much as Parkinson or Jonathan Ross. When Barbara Windsor was on, Piers never once mentioned her second husband. Watching the show, you'd think she'd only ever been married twice. When Katherine Jenkins was on, her drug habits were treated with kid gloves; you'd think she'd only dabbled in cocaine once or twice and then at her ex's insistence. The celebrities know exactly what is going to be asked of them, or they wouldn't go on...

? that's what he's paid for. No point hiring a Brit who talks about Britain on an American TV show, they are rather a parochial nation ?

I would think:

No, he's not. His contract doesn't run out till September and his show runs till March. He is also likely to be doing one-offs for CNN.

The sad thing is he might now
> end up hosting some sort of political interview type show here.

Done one, didn't work out. It was on Channel 4 ? he was the Leftie to Amanda Platell's Rightie.

I've always known that Piers Morgan was a prominent tabloid hack, I assumed it was just at the Daily Mirror though. I wasn't aware of his associations with the News Of The World or The Sun. I've not followed his career that closely.

"No point hiring a Brit who talks about Britain on an American TV show, they are rather a parochial nation".

He wouldn't be expected to talk about Britain on an American TV show, it is inevitable he would talk about America, I just think it is more appropriate to have an American do it - and if I was a yank I would think the same too. Why have a foreigner as the anchor on a domestic TV show? Rather odd, me thinks.

"Done one, didn't work out. It was on Channel 4 ? he was the Leftie to Amanda Platell's Rightie."

If his last attempt at a British political/current affairs type show didn't work out then maybe he WON'T be hosting another one here now that his attempt at doing one in the USA hasn't worked out. We can but hope!
